        Hyde Park

        by James Shirley

        by Helen Ostovich, Eugene Giddens

Hyde Park (1632) is one of the best-loved comedies of James Shirley, considered to be one of the most important Caroline dramatists. The play showcases strong female characters who excel at rebuking the outlandish courtship of various suitors. Shirley's comic setting, London's Hyde Park, offers ample opportunity for witty dialogue and sport - including foot and horse races - across three love plots. This is the first critical edition of the play, including a wide-ranging introduction and extensive commentary and textual notes. Paying special attention to the culture of Caroline London and its stage, the Revels Plays edition unpicks Shirley's politics of courtship and consent while also underlining the play's dynamics of class and power. A detailed performance history traces productions from 1632, across the Restoration to the present day, including that of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1987. A textual history of the play's first quarto determines how it was printed and what relationship Hyde Park has to other texts by Shirley from the same publishers.

Conversations About Visiting and Managing the National Parks

        Crowdsourcing America’s Best Idea

by Robert E. Manning, Elizabeth E. Perry

As the popularity of the national parks grows, so do the challenges of visiting and managing them. This innovative book uses crowdsourcing - postings by park visitors on a range of social media sites - to start 100 conversations on issues associated with visiting and managing the national parks. The authors then use their experience and expertise to prepare short, plainspoken, and engaging essays that respond to the postings and complete the conversations. The book is written for park visitors, managers, and students. The authors are university professors who teach the history, philosophy, and management of national parks, conduct long-term programs of research for the National Park Service, and have spent years working and living in the national parks. This inventive, thoughtful, and inviting book addresses a wide range of national park-related issues, guides readers on how to more effectively plan and conduct their national park visits, informs park planners and managers about what visitors think about the parks, introduces the latest scientific and professional information on park management, helps prepare students for careers in park management, and enhances public appreciation and protection of the national parks. Preservation of our national parks has always required an active engagement with the public. The authors take this to a new level by responding directly to the many questions and comments posed by visitors on social media with thoughtful and informative responses. Jonathan B. Jarvis, eighteenth Director of the National Park Service

        My Bank Washes Greener

Eco lies told by the finance sector

        by Bernd Villhauer

        — By the expert in ethical business — Once you have finished this, you will never fall for green financial lies again — Global Ethic Institute (Weltethos- Institut) network And suddenly every bank is sustainable. This truly necessary "debate book" explains in a wellfounded way what green-washing means in the financial sector, and why banks, insurance companies, asset managers, stockbrokers and other financial players clothe themselves in their allegedly so green-and-friendly cloak. It provides an easy-to-understand explanation of the various forms of greenwashing, how we can recognise the different "varieties" and – above all – how we can avoid them. This is also important because the entire financial and capital system is an important part of a sustainable future – and this can only succeed if it is honest, transparent and impact-orientated.

The Lionesses and the Battle for the Green Diamonds

        by Yang Peng

Naledi is a normal 12 year old girl living in Maun Botswana —normal, that is, until the day Oratile, her bully at school, notices the three scars she has on her arm, scars she got on the day her mother died. Oratile recognizes those scars because she has them too! But how can that be? Slowly the truth about what those scars mean is revealed—Naledi, just like Oratile, is one of the Lionesses, secret female superheroes fighting to keep Earth and its people safe from evil. Her mother gave her those scars as she was dying so that she could pass her Lioness powers to Naledi. Meanwhile, Sheridan, Naledi’s best friend, has uncovered a secret group of scientists working in Maun, the SES, who are working on Earth’s most pressing problems. They’ve developed a forever-energy-producing object, a green diamond, which can solve all of Earth’s energy needs. It seems like a good thing, but if it gets into the wrong hands it could be a very big problem. Unfortunately, the wrong hands are on their way to Earth for that very reason. Naledi quickly starts learning how to be a Lioness but the time is short because evil is coming! That evil is in the form of Verril, an alien leader from the planet Kepler C, who has a single objective: to take over the entire Universe. The problem is Verril needs energy to power her superweapons that will ensure in battle she and the Keplerians will always be the victors. She is coming to Earth to get the forever-energy producing green diamonds. If she’s successful, the end of The Universe, including Earth, will not be far behind. The Lionesses are the only ones who can stop Verril from getting the green diamonds. Naledi will risk nearly everything to keep the green diamonds out for Verril’s evil hands…the question is: will that be enough to save the Universe?
