        Das Badezimmer ist vielleicht der letzte private Ort, an den wir uns zurückziehen können. Es ist der Raum für Ruhe und Intimität – und insbesondere für eine Frau der Ort, wo sie ihre Schönheitsgeheimnisse verbirgt und sich jeden Tag aufs Neue verwandeln kann. Jetzt gewähren hundert Frauen einen Einblick in ihre geheimnisvollen Kammern. Die Idee zu diesem Buch kam der Herausgeberin Friederike Schilbach auf einer Ferienreise: »Ich besuchte eine Freundin in Apulien und bemerkte, dass ihr Badezimmer ihrem Charakter ähnelt: luftig, minimalistisch, schön. Ehe ich abreiste, bat ich sie um ein Foto davon sowie um einige Sätze dazu.« Daraus wurde ein ganzes Projekt. Friederike Schilbach fragte Schauspielerinnen wie Lena Dunham, die Schriftstellerinnen Erica Jong und Lily Brett und zahlreiche weitere Frauen, ob sie einen Blick in ihr Badezimmer preisgeben würden. 2016 wurde eine Ausstellung daraus, über die es in der FAS hieß, man würde die Fotos »am liebsten alle zusammen in einem Bildband mit nach Hause nehmen«. Der liegt nun vor. Hundert Frauen teilen darin intime Momente und persönliche Erinnerungen, die zum Nachdenken anregen – und zum Verschenken.

        Georg Büchner wurde am 17. Oktober 1813 in Goddelau bei Darmstadt geboren und starb am 19. Februar 1837 in Zürich. Er war das erste von sechs Kindern. Ab 1831 studierte er Medizin und Naturwissenschaften in Straßburg und ab 1833 auch Geschichte und Philosophie in Gießen. Er gründete 1834 die geheime ›Gesellschaft für Menschenrechte‹ und verfasste zusammen mit Ludwig Weidig, einem führenden Oppositionellen, die Flugschrift ›Hessischer Landbote‹. Damit riefen sie die hessische Landbevölkerung zur Revolution gegen die Unterdrückung auf. 1834 siedelte er nach Darmstadt um. In dieser Zeit entstand Dantons Tod. Ein Jahr später floh er nach Straßburg. 1836 wurde ihm die Doktorwürde der Universität Zürich verliehen und er begann seine Lehrtätigkeit als Privatdozent für vergleichende Anatomie. Schon vor seiner Übersiedlung nach Zürich hatte Büchner seine Arbeit am Woyzeck begonnen. Das Werk blieb ein Fragment. Anfang 1837 erkrankte Büchner an Typhus und starb kurz darauf an dieser Krankheit.
