Author Biography
Yulia Smal (real name - Yuliya Oleksandrivna Kumanska) was born on December 31, 1979 in in Zeleny Klina, and then moved to Lutsk early on. She holds a master’s degree in chemistry. She also has a diploma in philology and is a candidate of philological sciences in the field of Ukrainian literature, having defended her dissertation on the topic "Ecological aspects of modern literature for children (based on the works of Z. Menzatyuk, O. Ilchenko, I. Andrusiak)" in 2020. She worked as a chemistry teacher in one of Lutsk schools, and as an English teacher in China. However, Kyiv remains her favourite place on the planet.
She is the author of "Alphabet" (together with Marisa Rudska as an artist) and "Coloring and Riddles of the Bear Veniamin" (illustrated by Vitaly Sichkarchuk), as well as the electronic project "Adventures in the Legless World", which was painted by Svitlana Balukh. She was published in the magazines "Piznaiko", "Mamine Sonechko", "Angelyatko", etc. Author of books for children "Interesting chemistry. Biography of substances", "Letter to Nicholas", "Forest stories. Experiment and learn.”
