Author Biography
Halyna Kyrpa (born 1950) is a Ukrainian writer and translator born in the Kyiv regiorn. She is the author of several poetry books, school readers, and anthologies. She has a degree in philology and translated the works of Hans Christian Andersen, Astrid Lindgren, Knut Hamsun, Ulf Stark and other famous writers into Ukrainian. She worked in publishing houses and editorial offices of newspapers and magazines.
Her works were translated into Albanian, English, Belarusian, Polish, German, Croatian, French, Swedish. And she won several prizes: The Ivan Ohienko Award (1996), Publishers' Forum President's Award (2004), Svitoslov Award (2005), Maksym Rylsky Award for the best literary translations from the Scandinavian languages into Ukrainian (2007), Crystal bird Award (2011), Oleny Pchilky (2016), Andersen's Honor List for the translation of Ulf Stark's book Dårfinkar & dönickar (2011), Royal Order of the Polar Star (Stockholm, 2019). She lives in Kyiv.
Olha Havrylova is an artist, illustrator, and animator from Kyv. She studied at the Mykhailo Boichuk Institute of Design and Applied Arts in Kyv majoring in Pottery Design. In 2008, she started working Ukrainian publishing houses such as Hrani-T, Bratske and Chorni Vivtsi. Olha has won several awards. Her illustrations for Solka and Cook Tara-Pata by Oksana Lushchevska (Hrani-T) won the Books for Children and Youth category award in the 9th Art of the Book international contest for CIS countries. She is also winner of the Best Book of Ukraine contest in the World of Childhood category. Some of her best known projects include: Animal Alphabet by IVan Andrusyak (Hrani-T), No Wolf's Tongue-Twister by Hrytsko Chubay (Hrani-T), Naughty by Serhiy Pantiuk (Hrani-T), How many? by Halyna Kyrpa (Bratske), and Blue Umbrella by Oksana Lushchevska (Chorni Vivtsi)
