        Una cabeza distinta (A different head)

        by Luis Panini, Chiara Carrer

        This child tells us that he is not happy with the head that he has. He thinks it is a wrong head. The parents, after listening to him, take him to a specialist, who agrees with the little one. A mysterious man dressed in black supplies him with heads in exchange for his own. The child tries several, until he finds the one he was looking for. A reindeer head, a crocodile head, a whisk head: the narrator child and protagonist of this story tells us about his disagreement with the head he has and the vicissitudes that he has to go through to find the head with which he will finally agree: the head of a grown man, of a mathematician. This is a story of search for identity and growth, developed with fine fantasy and humor, with the wisdom of someone he has sought and perhaps already found.

        May the Loveforce Be With You

        Kali-Ki Reiki: Healing Through Divine Mother & Yogic Wisdom

        by Rajashree Maa

        May the Loveforce Be With introduces a new lineage in energy healing, Kali-Ki ReikiTM, that was revealed to the author, Joni Dittrich, Ph.D. (Rajashree Maa), in a series of mystical encounters with the Divine Mother appearing as the goddess Kali Maa. The book brilliantly tells the stories of these encounters and presents the healing symbols that She revealed, explaining how these symbols can be used both for mind-body healing and spiritual awakening, or what Rajashree Maa calls "wisening." While traditional reiki systems also use symbols to transmit healing energy, the symbols introduced in Kali-Ki Reiki are seen as unique, three-dimensional, active, intelligent forms of light that tap into certain universal energy frequencies that are particularly attuned to the evolving conscious awareness as well as the personal and societal dilemmas of our current times. The fact that these symbols were revealed by Divine Mother to a woman in this era points to a need in today's world to re-establish our connection with the feminine forces of nature and spirit. The healing energy transmitted through these symbols is called Loveforce, which is considered to be the manifesting, creative, and healing power of the Limitless Love that is the Source of all that is.

        Cells, Tissue, and Skin, Third Edition

        by Donna Bozzone, Ph.D. and Douglas B. Light, Ph.D.

        Cells are the smallest units capable of sustaining life, and they make up virtually every aspect of the human body. From the strands of hair at the top of the head to the nails on fingers and toes, every structure of the human body is composed of cells. Groups of cells form tissues and organs, which allow the body to function as an organized system. Skin, the body’s largest organ, forms a waterproof barrier that provides protection against invading microorganisms and acts as a sensory and thermoregulatory structure. Cells, Tissues, and Skin, Third Edition explores the properties of each of these components in our bodies. Packed with full-color photographs and illustrations, this absorbing book provides students with sufficient background information through references, websites, and a bibliography.

        Samyutta-Nikaya - Die gruppierte Sammlung der Lehrreden des Buddha

        by Konrad Meisig

        Der Palikanon des Theravada-Buddhismus, der heute die dominierende buddhistische Strömung in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos und Kambodscha ist, wird traditionell in drei 'Körbe' gegliedert: Der erste enthält vor allem eine Ordensdisziplin für Mönche und Nonnen sowie Rechtsvorschriften, der zweite die Lehrreden des Buddha und der dritte scholastische Unterweisungen. Zum 'Korb der Lehrreden' (Sanskrit: Sutta-Pitaka) des Buddha gehören fünf Sammlungen, unter ihnen die 'Gruppierte Sammlung' mit mehr als siebentausend Predigten. Ihren Namen verdankt sie dem Versuch, Suttas ähnlicher Thematik zusammenzustellen. Der Samyutta-Nikaya mit seinen 56 Gruppen vereinigt Material ganz unterschiedlicher Herkunft und Eigenart. Anfangs überwiegen Mönchsdichtung, Spruchweisheit, Rätselfragen und Zaubersprüche, darauf folgen einige Gruppen, die vorwiegend dogmatisch und didaktisch orientiert sind und einen Überblick über die autoritativen kanonischen Lehren des Pali-Kanons vermitteln. Da viele der späteren Gruppen durch ihre Wiederholungen und Detailvariationen die Lesergeduld herausfordern, konzentriert sich die vorliegende Auswahl auf den ersten Teil.

        Justifying violence

        Communicative ethics and the use of force in Kosovo

        by Naomi Head, Peter Lawler, Emmanuel Pierre Guittet

        When is the use of force for humanitarian purposes legitimate? The book examines this question through one of the most controversial examples of humanitarian intervention in the post Cold War period: the 1999 NATO intervention in Kosovo. Justifying Violence applies a critical theoretical approach to an interrogation of the communicative practices which underpin claims to legitimacy for the use of force by actors in international politics. Drawing on the theory of communicative ethics, the book develops an innovative conceptual framework which contributes a critical communicative dimension to the question of legitimacy that extends beyond the moral and legal approaches so often applied to the intervention in Kosovo. The empirical application of communicative ethics offers a provocative and nuanced account which contests conventional interpretations of the legitimacy of NATO's intervention. ;

        by Pilar Posada, Juliana Salcedo

These verses are inspired in the Latin American oral tradition and only an author and expert of the oral tradition such as Pilar Posada can write these verses with the tone of those that have passed by word of mouth for several generations. She manages to integrate verses from her own oral tradition (creates from what has already been created) and offer the reader something totally new. The illustrations by Juliana Salcedo, great Colombian illustrator, based in Spain, accompany the texts with delicacy and wisdom also favoring the play among and between children, and between children and adults.
