        LA DESCONOCIDA CAPOEIRA:

        by Mestre Ricardo (Cachorro)

      • The Ibibio Nation: History and Culture

        by Oto-Obong Uwah

The first section reviews the centuries-long journeys of the Afaha warring group from Usak Edet in the Cameroun valleys until their eventual dispersal from Ikono, as well as the connection of the Ibibio with the Aro and the Efik. The book also reviewed relevant ‘immediate past events’ of the last century in sufficient detail. In the later section, the pillars that bind the socio-cultural realities of the Ibibio people as a distinctly identifiable ethnic group are dissected. These are encased in proverbial expressions, ancestor worship, totems and taboos, as well as its evidently polytheistic worship mode, amongst other anthropological realities.

        by Juan David Enciso

Peace is an idea, an abstract concept, which must be grounded in concrete realities. And building peace involves moving from an initial state, which may or may not be conflict, to a second moment in which people have learned to know, relate, meet, and live together.   This book tries to elaborate on the construction of peace from an educational process, in which individuals learn to recognize themselves as subjects of equal dignity and with the capacity to carry out projects oriented to the common good. Similarly, educational settings, the so-called learning environments, are not confined exclusively to the walls of the classroom or the boundaries of formal education institutions: peace education occurs in any environment in which two or more coincide. people with potential conflicts of interest or collective construction.

        El plan Bérkowitz

        by Mario J. Les

The autumn of 2001 has barely begun. An elderly prisoner wakes up in his cell like every morning since an eternity. Tired of the endless confinement, he awaits for his own death as the only way out from the nightmare that haunts him. During the summer of that same year, three young men, partners in a modest audiovisual company, are hired by an eccentric millionaire to make some nature documentaries in Kenya. Excited, they face the opportunity of their lives: a dream job and the possibility of refloating his battered economy. However, they will soon discover that not all that glitters around their patron is gold. In the troubled Germany of 1938, Eyal Bérkowitz was one among hundred Jewish prisoners who were transferred from the Dachau concentration camp to the newly opened Flossenbürg. There they will work from sunrise to sunset in the neighboring quarry, extracting the granite necessary for the constructions that Albert Speer has designed for Hitler's imperialist Germany. The Jewish group, with Bérkowitz leading, will suffer in their flesh the abuse of power by the head of their barracks, Ludwig von Häussler, captain of the SS. With the background of World War II, the attack on Reinhard Heydrich and Operation Valkyrie, Eyal Bérkowitz will devise a risky plan that can save his own life ... and mortgage that of others.

        ANA

        by Roberto Santiago

Ana Tramel: With A for attorney. With A for addicted to alcohol, pills and sex. And with A for anaesthetized (to emotions, adjectives, and sycophants). In this story absolutely everything revolves around her, the protagonist, narrator and dynamo of the plot. In her forties, she’s about to experience a journey to the dark side of the gambling world, and to come up against an international corporation that deals in thousands of millions and has hundreds of lawyers on their payroll. Said with the utmost humility: from this moment on, we are all AnaTramel. In ANA nothing is what it seems. Not one of the characters is exactly a saint. And as Patricia Highsmith said of one of her stories ‘they are going to see a woman do what no male protagonist in literature of the past forty years would dare: behave with compassion, heroism and expose her body and soul to humiliation’.
