The Ibibio Nation: History and Culture
by Oto-Obong Uwah
Description
The first section reviews the centuries-long journeys of the Afaha warring group from Usak Edet in the Cameroun valleys until their eventual dispersal from Ikono, as well as the connection of the Ibibio with the Aro and the Efik. The book also reviewed relevant ‘immediate past events’ of the last century in sufficient detail. In the later section, the pillars that bind the socio-cultural realities of the Ibibio people as a distinctly identifiable ethnic group are dissected. These are encased in proverbial expressions, ancestor worship, totems and taboos, as well as its evidently polytheistic worship mode, amongst other anthropological realities.
