Nutrition and Eating Disorders, Third Edition
by Lori A. Smolin, Ph.D. and Mary B. Grosvenor, M.S., R.D.
Praise for the previous edition: "...easy-to-read...well-balanced...a good amount of detail."—School Library Journal Media images of "ideal bodies"—which, in reality, are often dangerously thin—make it easy for people to start worrying about their own body shapes and compare themselves to these model ideals. For some people, this concern with thinness becomes an obsession, and they fall victim to eating disorders. The sufferer may starve him- or herself, exercise too much, or deliberately vomit to purge the body of calories. This new edition of Nutrition and Eating Disorders, Third Edition examines some of the most common eating disorders, from anorexia nervosa to binge eating.

Die Polen und ihre Vampire
Studien zur Kritik der Phantasmen
by Maria Janion, Magdalena Marszalek, Bernhard Hartmann, Thomas Weiler
Laing in Polen bekannt.

Disability and the Victorians
Attitudes, interventions, legacies
by Iain Hutchison, Martin Atherton, Jaipreet Virdi
Disability and the Victorians brings together in one collection a range of topics, perspectives and experiences from the Victorian era that present a unique overview of the development and impact of attitudes and interventions towards those with impairments during this time. The collection also considers how the legacies of these actions can be seen to have continued throughout the twentieth century right up to the present day. Subjects addressed include deafness, blindness, language delay, substance dependency, imperialism and the representation of disabled characters in popular fiction. These varied topics illustrate how common themes can be found in how Victorian philanthropists and administrators responded to those under their care. Often character, morality and the chance to be restored to productivity and usefulness overrode medical need and this both influenced and reflected wider societal views of impairment and inability.

Lucy and Mum's Shoes
by Emily Child
Lucy and Mum's Shoes (written by Emily Child and illustrated by Warwick Kay) is the story a girl who hears the world a little differently. She is fascinated by the sounds around her, especially the sound of shoes. She dreams of a life where she is surrounded by high-heels. She dreams of being grown-up. Feeling brave one morning, Lucy sneaks into her mother’s cupboard and tries on her favourite pair of stilettos. An unusual and dreamlike day of high-heeled hope, happiness and hindrance follows, leaving Lucy a little less certain that she wants to feel grown-up after all… Lucy invites children (and adults) to be a part of her unique and quirky soundscape. Infused with a surreal eccentricity, this story uncovers what it means to “love the shoes you’re in”.
