The book offers macro and micro perspectives of CSR work and its critical benefits to both community and natural resources. This book covers: Philosophy and practices of corporate social responsibility. Impact studies on improving livelihoods and sustainable development of natural resources. Process steps across various CSR initiatives. Distinct features of each corporate agency. This book will be useful to corporates, individuals involved in CSR work as well as students and researchers focused on agricultural development and the sustainable development of natural resources.

        Embodied Communication

        by Maja Storch, Wolfgang Tschacher

The idea that people can understand each other is based on the assumption that there is such thing as the “correct” meaning of a message that simply needs to be found. According to the theory of embodied communication, however, a message has no fixed meaning that can be extracted or deciphered. There is merely the mutually produced feeling of agreement on a linguistic form, which arises spontaneously and anew from the interaction and which is not present in the beginning. Psychologists Maja Storch and Wolfgang Tschacher have at last supplied a new theory of communication that is in line with the latest research – and that can be applied in real-life situations. In addition to a section on the theory of embodied communication, the book contains detailed practical comments and a workshop section. The practical section describes a selection of everyday situations in which communication skills are called for. The methods can be applied to promote authentic and spontaneous behavior in real life situations. Target Group: Psychologists, communication experts, trainers, coaches, managers, teachers, marketing experts, and anyone who needs to communicate effectively at work or in their private life.

Corporate and white-collar crime in Ireland

A new architecture of regulatory enforcement

        by Joe McGrath, Rob Kitchin

        This book explores the emergence of a new architecture of corporate enforcement in Ireland. It is demonstrated that the State has transitioned from one contradictory model of corporate enforcement to another. Traditionally, the State invoked its most powerful weapon of state censure, the criminal law, but was remarkably lenient in practice because the law was not enforced. The contemporary model is much more reliant on cooperative measures and civil orders, but also contains remarkably punitive and instrumental measures to surmount the difficulties of proving guilt in criminal cases. Though corporate and financial regulation has become an area of significant interest for academics, researchers and those with an interest in corporate affairs, this sudden surge of interest lacks a tradition of scholarship or any deep empirical and contextual analysis in Ireland. This book provides that foundation. It is likely to stimulate an extensive conversation on corporate regulation and governance in Ireland. It is also likely to provide a platform for researchers further afield with an interest in comparative study with Ireland. ;

‘Everyday health’, embodiment, and selfhood since 1950

by Tracey Loughran, Hannah Froom, Kate Mahoney, Daisy Payling

What is the history of 'everyday health' in the postwar world, and where might we find it? This volume moves away from top-down histories of health and medicine that focus on states, medical professionals, and other experts. Instead, it centres the day-to-day lives of people in diverse contexts from 1950 to the present. Chapters explore how gender, class, 'race', sexuality, disability, and age mediated experiences of health and wellbeing in historical context. The volume foregrounds methodologies for writing bottom-up histories of health, subjectivity, and embodiment, offering insights applicable to scholars of times and places beyond those represented in the case studies presented here. Drawing together cutting-edge scholarship, the volume establishes and critically interrogates 'everyday health' as a crucial concept that will shape future histories of health and medicine.

        Gendered urban violence among Brazilians

Painful truths from Rio de Janeiro and London

by Cathy McIlwaine, Paul Heritage, Miriam Krenzinger Azambuja, Moniza Rizzini Ansari, Eliana Sousa Silva, Yara Evans

This book aims to examine the nature of and resistance to gendered urban violence among Brazilian women in London and in the favelas of Maré, Rio de Janeiro. Drawing on the conceptualisation of translocational gendered urban violence framework, it highlights the importance of examining direct forms of gender-based violence across private, public and transnational spheres as interlinked with structural, symbolic and infrastructural violence. The book also explores the embodied and spatialised nature of gendered urban violence, explored through artistic engagements and arts-based methods. In developing a translocational feminist tracing methodological and epistemological approach across the social sciences and the arts, the book argues for the importance of a collaborative approach among academic, civil society organisations, artists and creative researchers with a view to engendering empathetic transformation to address gendered urban violence in the long-term.

Journey in Trumplandia: The Rise of Populism in America

        by Tiberiu Dianu

The book is a collection of essays about the transformation of America, which has turned from a united nation to one more divided than ever. Some pundits predict that, if things don’t change, another civil war could occur. Have we reached a point of no return? Hopefully, America is mature enough to learn from its mistakes and avoid further scars along its evolving history. "Trumplandia is a welcome addition toward understanding current events, Washington’s international policy, and the present American society; a society polarized and divided as it has not been since the Civil War.” NICHOLAS DIMA, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor and Research Associate, Nelson Institute, James Madison University, Virginia. "The book is fascinating. It provides background to, and insights into [the] current and past political history as well as offering a personal view... of the country and society. Presented in thematic form in chapters and sections, the insights offered provide a suggestive radiography...” Dr. DENNIS DELETANT, OBE, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington DC. "There has been this backsliding in... what a truly functioning rule-of-law state is, that has proper separation of co-equal powers, which, if you don’t keep working on that, you backslide. And I am even worried about that here, in the United States right now, about backsliding.” OBIE MOORE, Esq., OLM Advisors LLC, Washington DC “Indeed, Trumplandia should be a welcome addition to any scholar, student or layman’s library, especially in its international edition. If anyone loses sleep over its challenging assertions, then it will have been well worth it.” ERNESTO MORALES HIZON, Ph.D. Candidate in American and Comparative Politics at Claremont Graduate University, Member, Integrated Bar of the Philippines ABOUT THE AUTHOR: TIBERIU DIANU has practiced law in Romania (as a corporate lawyer, judge, senior counselor at the Ministry of Justice, university professor and senior legal researcher), and in the United States (as a legal expert for the judiciary). He published several books and a host of articles in law, politics, and post-communist societies. Tiberiu currently lives and works in Washington, DC.

Avatar. On the Nature of Duplication and Multiplicity

        by Taras Liutyi

Humans are very fickle. On the deep psychological level, they are constantly reborn into the new surrounding circumstances, and trying to adapt to them. Some people are not thinking about the past or future at all, while others throw themselves into the whirlpool of scenarios, creating a lot of pain for themselves and others. When we think about probable and improbable scenarios of our life events, we technically create our own endless number of avatars. We duplicate ourselves. Why are some people cautious, some aggressive and some are completely resistant to the novelties? Why do we think we are complete, yet we constantly change? Why we sometimes marvel at something that is not available and finding it hard to appreciate our own talents and the talents of others? The book tries to find some answers to the questions of human mind. The book is devoted to the formation of a human personality, which cannot do without its own transformation, the experience of the Other and the Stranger, the bifurcation and maintenance of the unity of its self and many other aspects.
