Mayers kleines Buchregal
Hello and welcome to my presentation! I am Uwe Mayer, freelance Illustrator, author, designer and now also publisher of my children's picture book „DIE LAUFMASCHINE“, or in the English translation: “The Bicycling Baron". The book playfully tells the story of the invention of the bicycle from the very start. As a subject long overdue, it is original, based on fact and yet told in a humorous and original format with great illustrations throughout. DIE LAUFMASCHINE won the 1st prize from the State of Baden-Württemberg (Germany) for its original idea & concept in 2017. With further funding I was in the lucky position to not only create this important book project, but also publish it in 2019. Die Laufmaschine was nominated by the STIFTUNG BUCHKUNST for “Most Beautiful German Books" („Die Schönsten Deutschen Bücher“), Long List 2019. For this title I am offering foreign rights.

Facing Off
by Graciela Vaserman Samuels

Facing Off
by Graciela Vaserman Samuels
Facing Off is a kaleidoscope of departures. In a century-long journey, men and women escape from a Europe in flames to the often convulsive but welcoming shores of Argentina. As Gabriela unveils to her daughters the land of her birth, the country becomes a map of thumbtack flags of flesh and blood. Readers see a revolving door of political parades and moments through the innocent eyes of a child, a rebel, and a mature woman. Facing Off is a catharsis at each milestone of motherhood, reflected in the responses of Gabriela’s daughters. From Buenos Aires to Jerusalem to Paris and back to Jerusalem, fragile threads link family and tradition. A living willpower guides readers across the desert between generations. Facing Off was first published in Spanish as Dar la Cara by Metafora (Buenos Aires, 2010) and selected for display on the Argentinean stand at the 2010 Frankfurt Book Fair. Graciela Vaserman Samuels, born in Argentina, emigrated to Israel and studied political science at the Hebrew University. She holds a PhD in literature from Temple University and served as founding director of Hadassah Medical Relief Association. As a UNESCO official, she spends her time between Paris and Jerusalem. The author and her husband, Shimon Samuels, have three daughters and four grandsons. Vaserman Samuels also wrote the novel Decoding Colors. An English- Lanugage E-book edition was published in late 2014, by SWS Inc., C.A. 242 Pages, 15X22.5 CM

by Graciela Mayrink
An anonymous message uniting two sad and lonely hearts: a singer and his fan. Gabriel Moura is a rock star at the peak of his career, after releasing an album well received by critics. He seems to have everything, but he hides himself in his room, tormented by manias that his mother put in his head. Fighting against OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), trying to overcome his obsessions and compulsions, he finds a forum about depression, where a fan shares his problems. When he feels connected to her, he begins to nurture a fixation for the girl and believes that it can help her end her sadness. Carolina is in her first year of college and is haunted by the ghost of a scandal at the end of high school. Her ex-boyfriend leaked an intimate photo of her on the Internet. Without parental support, she falls into depression, distances herself from her twin sister, and finds relief only by talking to strangers in an online forum. One day, she meets a fan of her idol on the internet who is also having problems, and the two of them start exchanging messages of support. Little does Carolina know that who is behind everything is the famous singer.

Reversing Climate Change
How Carbon Removals can Resolve Climate Change and Fix the Economy
by Graciela Chichilnisky and Peter Bal
The Kyoto Protocol capped the emissions of the main emitters, the industrialized countries, one by one. It also created an innovative financial mechanism, the Carbon Market and its Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), which allows developing nations to receive carbon credits when they reduce their emissions below their baselines. The carbon market, an economic system that created a price for carbon for the first time, is now used in four continents, is promoted by the World Bank, and is recommended even by leading oil and gas companies. However, one critical problem for the future of the Kyoto Protocol is the continuing impasse between the rich and the poor nations. Who should reduce emissions — the rich or the poor countries?

This book presents theoretical and empirical research results of the education of subjects in non-traditional education institutions in Bogotá, such as Liceo Juan Ramón Jiménez, Escuela Pedagógica Experimental, Colegio Qualia Alternativa Educativa, Centro Educativo Libertad and Colegio Fe y Alegría San Ignacio I.E.D. We want to think critically how these pedagogical initiatives distance themselves from traditional education and the type of subjects they intend to educate throughout the schooling process.

by Kim Ekemar
