        Friederike Mayröcker wurde am 20. Dezember 1924 in Wien geboren und starb am 4. Juni 2021 ebendort. Sie besuchte zunächst die Private Volksschule, ging dann auf die Hauptschule und besuchte schließlich die kaufmännische Wirtschaftsschule. Die Sommermonate verbrachte sie bis zu ihrem 11. Lebensjahr stets in Deinzendorf, welche einen nachhaltigen Eindruck bei ihr hinterließen. Nach der Matura legte sie die Staatsprüfung auf Englisch ab und arbeitete zwischen 1946 bis 1969 als Englischlehrerin an verschiedenen Wiener Hauptschulen. Bereits 1939 begann sie mit ersten literarischen Arbeiten, sieben Jahre später folgten kleinere Veröffentlichungen von Gedichten. Im Jahre 1954 lernte sie Ernst Jandl kennen, mit dem sie zunächst eine enge Freundschaft verbindet, später wird sie zu seiner Lebensgefährtin. Nach ersten Gedichtveröffentlichungen in der Wiener Avantgarde-Zeitschrift "Plan" erfolgte 1956 ihre erste Buchveröffentlichung. Seitdem folgten Lyrik und Prosa, Erzählungen und Hörspiele, Kinderbücher und Bühnentexte.
