We must see the world from the standpoint of everything that surrounds us, of what we encounter every day, for us to truly understand the issues in our lives, the situations we find ourselves in, and how to address them properly. In our individualistic world, however, we do not always manage to think about what is truly important. The World Around Us motivates young readers to deeply examine their values, to recognise the negative actions of the characters in her stories, and to look for a positive approach to the world that surrounds them. The World Around Us consists of 16 stories, each of which is associated with a specific thematic word such as friendship, the future, wisdom… it is up to the young readers to think the stories through their keywords, and by doing so, they will develop their feelings of empathy, decency, kindness, humanity, and generosity. This book mainly describes the origin of the Lisu Knife-Pole Festival. February 8th of the lunar calendar is an important day for the Lisu people to celebrate the Knife-Pole Festival. Regarding the origin of the Knife-Pole Festival, there is a legendary story of a hero Wang Ji circulating in the Lisu tribe. According to legend, Wang Ji was a rare talent at the time who was proficient in the art of war, was courageous and strategic, and cared about the people. At that time, other ethnic groups often invaded the border of Yunnan, and the Lisu people living there were unable to resist. Wang Ji led the defence and defeated intruders with the assistance of the Lisu people. In order to commemorate the hero Wang Ji, the Lisu people named the day when Wang Ji was dead — February 8th as the “Knife-Pole Festival”.

China's giant Three Gorges Dam is the world's biggest hydropower plant located in the Three Gorges region in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Since its construction officially began in 1994, the higher water level has changed the scenery of the Three Gorges. In 1996, photographer Zheng Yunfeng arrived at the Three Gorges, hoping to document the scenery before it was swallowed by the rising water. He spent more than seven years taking over 50,000 photos of the gorges, based on which the series Three Gorges was produced. The series Three Gorges is a selected collection of Zheng Yunfeng’s photography of the Three Gorges region, depicting living conditions, economic status, and customs and beliefs of local people with massive exquisite pictures and plain language. It is a part of Image Files of the Natural and Humanistic Heritages of China's River Sources and has three volumes: Memories of Mountains and Rivers, Memories of Old Days, and Memories of Ours.

The absurdity of bureaucracy offers a humorous ethnographic account of policy implementation set in contemporary Danish bureaucracy. Taking the reader deep into the hallways of governmental administration and municipal caseworkers' offices, the book sets out to explore what characterizes policy implementation as a mode of human agency. Using the notions of absurdity and sense-making as lenses through which to explore the dynamic relationship between a policy and its effects, the book reclaims 'implementation studies' for the qualitative sciences and emphasizes the existential dilemma that any policymaker and implementer must confront. Following step-by-step the planning and implementation of the randomized controlled trial, Active - Back Sooner, the book sets out to show that 'going wrong' is not a question of implementation failure but is in fact the only way in which implementation may happen.
