Bien qu’il se présente a priori sous la forme d’une histoire amusante illustrée, il s’agit en fait de bien plus que cela - c’est une œuvre éducative sur la transition de l’enfant, de l’école maternelle à l’école élémentaire, transition souvent accompagnée de peurs et d’angoisses chez les parents autant que chez le jeune enfant. Dans son introduction, le psychologue clinique et spécialiste du développement, Dr. Carl I. Rubinroit, écrit : Le passage de la maternelle à l’école élémentaire est souvent source d’inquiétude et d’anxiété tant chez les enfants que chez leurs parents. Dans ce livre sympathique, Aviva Lipstein décrit les expériences d’un petit garçon sur le point d’entrer à la grande école pour la première fois.
