        Barbara und andere Novellen

Eine Auswahl aus dem erzählerischen Werk

by Hermann Broch, Paul Michael Lützeler, Paul Michael Lützeler, Paul Michael Lützeler

        Queen Barbara

        Roman

        by Michal Witkowski, Olaf Kühl

A oficina do Cambeva (Cambeva's workshop)

        by Lido Loschi

Cambeva's workshop is the first of four books of the collection "Presente de Vô" in partnership with Grupo Ponto de Partida. The book is a mixture of colours and elements that highlight the memory of the world, in which seekers of memories have the mission of bringing light and life to objects found in the travels of two characters: Zalém and Calunga. Cambeva is a restorer who, when the world lost its embrace, tried to reinvent it; he is the grandfather who mends dreams, forgotten things and lost emotions, to whom the seekers ask for help to fix something. In a magical universe, full of children, grandchildren, stories and memories of his lineage of restorers, when faced with this request for restoration, he makes room to bring back an emblematic figure who can no longer sing. A story about memories, care and affection...

        Oikoá

        by Felipe Valério

The name of this book is Oikoá, which means life in the language of the Guarani Mbya people. This name was chosen because the indigenous peoples have been the guardians of life on planet Earth: it is in their territories that there are more types of trees and plants, animals, fish, birds, insects, and where the rivers and forests are best preserved.

        Take-All Disease of Cereals

        A Regional Perspective

by Geoffrey L Bateman, Richard J Gutteridge, Philippe Lucas, Anne E Osbourn, Elaine Ward. Edited by David Hornby.

Take-all is the most important root disease of cereals worldwide and a major disease problem in northern European wheat-growing regions. It is regarded by many as an intractable problem because of the lack of economically-viable chemical controls and resistant cultivars. It remains one of the great challenges of plant pathology and serves as an ideal model for many of the problems of root diseases in general. This book, an initiative of the IACR/ADAS/Universities Cereal Root Pathology Group, is the first since 1981 to provide an up-to-date review of the practical aspects of take-all research. It contains the experience of several contributors with long and active careers in take-all research or the advisory services and includes a comprehensive worldwide bibliography of relevant literature published over the last 15 years. The book concentrates on Europe, particularly the UK and France, and this regional theme is developed through comparisons with approaches used in, for example, North America and Australia. Chapters deal with history, disease and epidemiology, take-all in relation to cereal production systems, strategies for management, the pathogens and related fungi, field techniques and future prospects. This book is essential reading for advanced students and professionals in cereal crop protection research and will be of interest to plant pathologists as well as agricultural advisors.

        Die Körnung der Stimme

        Interviews 1962–1980

by Roland Barthes, Agnès Bucaille-Euler, Birgit Spielmann, Gerhard Mahlberg

        The silence of Barbara Synge

        by Bill McCormack

        'The silence of Barbara Synge' provides a fascinating companion volume to Bill McCormack's acclaimed 'Fool of the family' (2000), a biography of the playwright J.M. Synge (1871-1909). Taking the alledged death of Mrs John Hatch (née Synge) in 1767 as a focal point, this book explores the varied strands of the Synge family tree in eighteenth and nineteenth century Ireland. Key events in the family's history are carefully documented, including a suicide in 1769 which is echoed in an early Synge play, the effects of the famine which influenced 'The playboy of the western world' in 1907, and the behaviour of Francis Synge at the time of the union. 'The silence of Barbara Synge' is a unique work of cultural enquiry, combining archival research, literary criticism, and religious and medical history to pull the strands together and relate them to the family's literary descendent J.M. Synge. ;
