Author Biography

Marília Moreira was born in São Paulo in 1975. She is an actress, playwright and theatre director. She was part of Antunes Filho's Centro de Pesquisa Teatral for 5 years and worked under his direction in the staging of Policarco Quaresma and A falecida Vapt-Vupt. He also worked with renowned directors Roberto Vignati and Héctor Babenco, among others. In 2001 he founded the Areiam Theatre nucleus of the Paulista Theatre Cooperative, which aims to research and disseminate Brazilian popular culture. He wrote, directed and acted in various productions of this company, among them the play Língua de Boi, still shown in the Teatro Rá-Tim-Bum program of TV Cultura. Within the Teatro de Areia, he developed, at the request of Sesc-SP, the storytelling project called "Histórias com poesia" (Stories with poetry), which brought to the children biographical data and poems of several Brazilian authors. It was from this work that came the desire to bring to this same public her own poems, which gave rise to this first book, Lia e o feitiço da palavra.
