As tourism and tourist numbers continue to grow around the world, it becomes increasingly important that this subject is studied in depth and best practice applied in real-life situations. This book: - Is the first to address a range of theoretical issues relating to mass tourism; - Uses a wide selection of case studies to translate theory into practice, covering the historical rise and fall of UK seaside resorts, the increase in Chinese tourism, conflict between different mass tourism groups, destination transformation from mass to niche tourism, and specific problems facing cruise ships; - Is written by a range of international, established authors to give a global perspective on the subject. Xiangsi Mountain

        by Wang Tianming

        Acacia is a kind of modality. When it derives into a mountain, it becomes a belief or a responsibility. The material Xiangsi Mountain is impoverished because of various inconveniences; the spiritual Xiangsi Mountain arises because of the original intention and responsibility of the Communist Party. What Chunxi, Li Yong, Wu Juan, and Xiaozhen saw was a big mountain in spring. Although this mountain was poor and remote, it was full of vitality. Their lovesickness had the love of their homeland and the hope of a mountain in autumn. There is also a universal feeling of "no one can fall." The novel tells the story of the hardships, hardships and emotions experienced by a group of cadres from the state and provincial agencies to help the poor in the villages under Xiangsi Mountain. Li is keeping true faith. Through the description of the natural scenery, legendary stories and Miao village customs of Xiangsi Mountain, the main leaders face the contradictions directly, solve problems in the front line of poverty alleviation, and set examples. The cadres and the group work hard to successfully develop the story of Xiangsi Mountain tourist attractions. The image of a group of cadres who dare to think and do, be diligent and honest for the people, touching tears. At the same time, it also promoted the Xiangsi Mountain Scenic Area, and used the form of literature to help the poor, showing the author's responsibility and the forward-looking rational discussion of the rural areas after poverty. It is a good work with strong artistic appeal and practicality.

        BiBiBiber hat da mal 'ne Frage. Welche Farben hat der Regenbogen?

        by Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, Marie Meimberg, Marie Meimberg

        by Clemens Peck

        Theodor Herzl, geboren 1860 in Budapest, schrieb mit »Der Judenstaat« (1896) die entscheidende Abhandlung für die Gründung eines autonomen jüdischen Staatswesens. Das Buch war eine Abwehrreaktion gegen den in Europa sich verschärfenden Antisemitismus, den Herzl besonders als Paris-Korrespondent während der Dreyfus-Affäre erleben musste. Sechs Jahre später erschien sein Roman »Altneuland«, in dem er seine Ideen eines jüdischen Staates in Palästina literarisierte, reflektierte und modifizierte. Herzl schrieb die Utopie, »um zu zeigen, dass es keine ist«. In seinem Buch geht es nicht um Literatur oder Politik – es geht um beides gleichermaßen. Es changiert zwischen Roman und Leben, Imagination und Realisierung. Clemens Peck folgt Herzls Bewegung zwischen diesen beiden Polen – den Experimenten im Labor der Utopie. Er lotet die Leistungen des Romans vor dem Hintergrund des Utopie-Diskurses um 1900 erstmals ausführlich aus und gewinnt neue Einsichten nicht nur über den Roman, sondern auch über die schillernde Person des jüdischen Schriftstellers und Journalisten.

        Human remains and mass violence

        Methodological approaches

        by Jean-Marc Dreyfus, Élisabeth Anstett, Jean-Marc Dreyfus, Élisabeth Anstett

        This book outlines for the first time in a single volume the theoretical and methodological tools for a study of human remains resulting from episodes of mass violence and genocide. Despite the highly innovative and contemporary research into both mass violence and the body, the most significant consequence of conflict - the corpse - remains absent from the scope of existing research. Why have human remains hitherto remained absent from our investigation, and how do historians, anthropologists and legal scholars, including specialists in criminology and political science, confront these difficult issues? By drawing on international case studies including genocides in Rwanda, the Khmer Rouge, Argentina, Russia and the context of post-World War II Europe, this ground-breaking edited collection opens new avenues of research. Multidisciplinary in scope, this volume will appeal to readers interested in an understanding of mass violence's aftermath, including researchers in history, anthropology, sociology, law, politics and modern warfare. ;
