        Stolz auf unser Land

Die amerikanische Linke und der Patriotismus

        by Richard Rorty, Hermann Vetter

1979 erscheint sein bekanntestes Werk, Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature (dt. Juni 2007 stirbt Richard Rorty in Palo Alto, Kalifornien.

Contes de la forêt et de la savane

        Fables d'ici et d'ailleurs

by Ntsama Abah, Balafun studio by K. Willy

"Contes de la forêt et de la savane (Fables d'ici et d'ailleurs)" is a collection of tales that immerses us at the crossroads of different Cameroonian cultures and, in a broader sense, of Central Africa. Here, through a very surprising mixture of French-speaking literature and mother tongue which is based on this particular cultural context, the author allows the power and delicacy of oral transmission to shine through in all simplicity in our regions. Consisting of ten tales of unequal lengths, the book presents the exceptional adventures of different living beings in which man meets much more than his “animal” or “insect” brothers… Indeed, and through these multiple adventures, the reader rubs shoulders with wisdom as well as its history and that of the world in which he lives.

        Common Agricultural Policy, 2nd Edition

by Edited by Christopher Ritson, David R Harvey

The first edition of this book, published in 1991 with the title The Common Agricultural Policy and the World Economy, was well received as a timely analysis of this fast-moving but important subject. However, several major developments, such as general CAP reform, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), expansion of the European Union, and relationships with eastern Europe, have justified the need for a new edition. As a result, the book has been thoroughly updated, with some completely new chapters added and others replaced. It has also be rewritten with a greater emphasis on the needs of students for a well-integrated, comprehensive textbook.

        Genome Editing for Crop Improvement

        Theory and Methodology

by Jameel M Al-Khayri, Muhammad N Sattar, Sudhir K. Sopory, Shri Mohan Jain

Genome editing offers a powerful tool to significantly accelerate crop-breeding programs in order to develop new and improved varieties. It allows precise modification of an organism's DNA sequence, often by creating targeted double-strand breaks at specific locations. The CRISPR-Cas system has emerged as the preferred method of gene editing and offers a powerful technology for crop improvement. The use of CRISPR in plant research has led to significant improvements in crop performance in terms of yield, nutrition, stress tolerance and resistance against agricultural pests and diseases. This book explores the cutting-edge field of genome editing, its applications and potential to revolutionize the genetic improvement of crops. It includes: Foundational concepts and historical context of genome editing (GE). Structure and mechanisms of various genome editing techniques. Application of GE for trait improvements in plants. Regulatory, biosafety, and ethical considerations. This is a valuable resource for researchers in crop genetic improvement, graduate and postgraduate students in molecular biology and biotechnology programs, and professionals in the field.

Intellectual Property Rights in Agricultural Biotechnology, 2nd Edition

by Edited by Frederic H Erbisch, Karim M Maredia

During the past twenty-five years, biotechnology has revolutionized agricultural research. The enormous potential, together with a landmark decision by the US Supreme Court to allow the patenting of genetically-engineered organisms has encouraged private sector companies to invest in agricultural biotechnology research programmes. This has contributed to a rapid growth in interest in intellectual property rights as applied to this subject. The first edition of this book was published in 1998. Now fully revised and updated it presents definitive information on intellectual property law in a simplified form (with a minimum of legal jargon). New chapters have been added which cover plant variety protection and farmers rights, and additional case studies.

The Classic of Mountains and Seas (Picture Version)

        by Huang Xuran, Tang Sulan

"The Classic of Mountains and Seas (Picture Version)" is a children's traditional cultural enlightenment book with a fresh perspective. Selected representative and interesting chapters in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" were drawn into the book, which depicts a series of images in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" such as water systems, mountains, vegetations, trees, mountain gods, sacred beasts, water monsters, etc. In this imaginative picture book, images are vivid and the story theme is ups and downs. The author extracts nourishment from the profound ancient myths, and then creates new stories that children can understand. The whole book takes a retro and creative form with concise and simple text and simple and freehand ink painting through the mountain and sea scriptures, depicting a mythical world where the heavens and the earth are prevalent and the gods and monsters are in chaos.
