The night her mother died, Elora saw a flash of purple lightning from the window of the Saint-Étienne hospital. And the fact is that Elora, like her mother before her, like her grandmother, with whom she must move, possesses a gift that makes her special, intuitive, wise... Like so many women from other times and places, grandmother and granddaughter will have to survive together and be strong. Drawings of Hiroshima

        by Marcelo Simonetti

“The sky was covered with grey clouds. The drizzle was lighter than normal, almost pious. The Japanese were advancing through the streets with short, fast steps. Satoru was ahead of them. He pedaled at a good pace. From his bicycle seat, the city revealed itself to his eyes as a sequence of frames. It was strange to be there, in his grandfather's city, and to ride through it as he had probably never done before: on two wheels. Even so, the possibility that the route he was taking would intersect with the routes that his grandfather had taken when he was a child, provoked an intimate emotion in him. Those landscapes were over eighty years old, including an atomic bomb, but it was the land where Ryu Nakata had learned to walk, to speak, to read”. The death of his grandfather, awakens in the young Yasuhiro Nakata the desire to know the family history, especially after finding a letter in which he discovers another side of the old man whose last words were: 'Hiroshima, Hiroshima', warning of the existence of a secret. As a result, Yasuhiro embarks on a journey that will take him from Valparaiso to Hiroshima, where his grandfather emigrated ten years before the atomic disaster. This is the beginning of Drawings of Hiroshima— a charming story that allows readers to follow the protagonist on a journey in which he not only reconnects with his Japanese origins, but also questions his present, his interpersonal relationships and his interest in writing, deepening the unconscious desire to understand the role that he plays in a story that is not his own but yet challenges him directly. With this new release, Marcelo Simonetti addresses issues such as migration and identity, connecting the historic Chilean port of Valparaiso with the memory of the tragedy occured in the Japanese city.

        Forget Atlas

        by Teresa Ibars

        Britannica

        by Germán Padinger

In a future that seems close to becoming the past, the novel's characters struggle to adapt to the rapid concentration of information in a global file that can be accessed, as in a dream, through a cable connected directly to the brain: a process they call «enhancement». Young programming students, a wear social science teacher, a woman searching for her missing husband in the cloud, and a colonizer trying to build a new world populate this novel. Before them, virtual life and the ideology that «enhancement» brings will soon seem more attractive than flesh and blood, and the world will be immersed in a race towards transmigration, in transit times as technology advances. It is in this context that militants of an esoteric and nostalgic movement will try to warn about the dangers of abandoning the body, that old desire of philosophy.

A trip through Italy thanks to football

        by Toni Padilla

This trip through Italy is not intended to arrive as soon as possible. The guide is Toni Padilla, who, accompanied by a ball, and based on themes such as death, music, cheese or stickers, is impregnated with the country's double soul. Here are the majestic Italy and the Italy massacred by prejudices, lying on this journey from north to south and from east to west. The raw material of the stories, which are only on the author's radar, are the walks through the homeland of Benito Mussolini, Rafaella Carrà or Francesco Totti. Its pages are a map where memories are celebrated and goals are savored. Written with detailed prose and a leisurely gaze, they seem from another era, now that we don't have time for everything. But calcium is in no rush to get off this train.

        HISTORICAL

by Selection and editing by Marta Mearin and Juan Francisco Bascuñán Illustrations: Joanna Styrylska-Gałażyn

Historical is a journey through the lives of 15 women who made history, based on illustrations of them by Polish artist Joanna Styrylska-Gałażyn. These graphic representations are accompanied by texts of diverse literary genres, written especially for this edition by young writers of different nationalities: Chilean, Latin American, Catalan. For each character, a brief biography and a text is included that seeks to connect the reader to the woman being honored, mixing real information with fictitious events: some occur in the future, others explore the most intimate dimension of the protagonist or personify her through poetry. The illustrations and stories that make up this book seek to make visible the importance of women in the immense number of areas from which they have been systematically excluded: science, art, technology, sports, activism and academia, among others. In this way, the book concentrates different aspects of feminist struggles capable of transcending time and space.

        Cara o Sello

        by Mario Salazar Montero

Kurzinformation ISBN 978-3-9525331-3-0 Titel “Cara o Sello”. Mario Salazar Montero. Mario Salazar Montero. Geboren in Kolumbien, Südamerika. Lebt seit vielen Jahren in der Schweiz. Adiós, pequeño (Goodbye, little one)

        by Máximo Huerta

FERNANDO LARA PRIZE 2022 My mother would have been happier if I had never been born. That’s the simple truth about my life. The plot and the ending of this novel don’t really matter. Accepting the circumstances of the story is the only sedative that allows me to write. The only thing I’m afraid of is the end. The only purpose of this sermon of mine, of all these words, of the constant pain and the feigned happiness, is to delay my inexorable arrival at that point, like watching a train make its way down the mountain, disappearing into tunnels that were dug a century ago. “Should I write?” I ask myself. “Write and, once you’ve finished, don’t go back. Say goodbye.” With this brave, intimate account, the author reconstructs a childhood in which everyone – grandparents, parents and children – has been silent for too long. Adiós, pequeño is the story of a family trying to be happy despite everything.

        Chile geopoético

        by Miguel Laborde

Nunca serás un verdadero Gondra (You’ll never be a true Gondra)

        by Borja Ortiz de Gondra

Borja works as a translator for an international organization in New York, where he lives with his partner, John. One night, he receives a phone call from his cousin, who informs him that his brother has just died and that the cousin has something to give him. Many years earlier, in the 1990s, Borja left the Basque Country and cut his ties with a family and a land that were poisoned by hatred and incomprehension. In the United States he became a different person, someone who had torn up his roots and buried his past in order to embrace a present in which he could live, freely, in another language. But one phone call can be enough to demolish the highest wall. Now, this ill-fated son of a family that has fallen on hard times finds he is the sole heir of the dilapidated mansion that looks out over the sea from its vantage point at the top of the town of Algorta. Only he can open the door and decide what to do with so many years of pain and silence. But healing the wounds is not easy and writing a book about the past may only serve to make them deeper.   Ortiz de Gondra has written a perceptive exploration of identity, memory and the possibility of shaping one’s own destiny beyond any boundaries that our family and our homeland may impose on us.

        Outside of time

        by Silvia Bardelás

"Destiempo is a song to the fight for internal revolutions and the desire to free ourselves from the vital ropes that bind us." - Armando Requeixo. Diario cultural. Radio Galega   Destiempo illuminates the we as the truly human space. An older woman asks her grandson to come back to Galicia from the United States to spend the summer with her. She wants him to attend a kind of social fight that she is carrying out with her friends. They look for action as the only thing that can give meaning to their lives. Silvia Bardelás mixes different generations that share the same problem: the weight of a standardized world, full of discourses, oblivious to vitality. The possibility of feeling alive and real again makes everything move in an unstoppable way. The story is a coming and going of past and present, of ideas and actions that reveal the silent social power and the inner need to feel free. Destiempo (Outside of time) is a community novel. Beyond individuality, beyond the group is the we, which can only emerge genuinely when individuals become singular beings, when they become aware of the myths, the ideology, the discourses that have dominated their lives and those of their ancestors.   The narrator puts the focus on the interrelation. He lights up scenes where the characters discover themselves through others.
