Why in the world not? aims to make daseinanalysis accessible to the English-speaking reader while retaining cross-references to the original texts, many of which were written in German. The author does not assume prior familiarity with daseinanalysis, a modality of psychotherapy based on Martin Heidegger’s analysis of existence. His purpose is to fill the existing gap in knowledge of the historical and theoretical origins of the modality, its principles of practice, and curricula for the preparation of practitioners. This book is a response to the renaissance of interest in daseinanalysis during the last five years, especially the formation of the American Daseinsanalystic Institute, which takes its place among other institutes around the world. It will be of interest to graduate or post-graduate clinical psychologists and psychotherapists. It will also be an important text for readers familiar with Heidegger but perhaps not aware of his impact on psychiatry and psychotherapy. The volume includes an exhaustive review of the publications of Medard Boss which are, in effect, the written history of the genesis and development of daseinanalysis.
This volume consists of three middle-grade stories, "Wolf Walk Thousands of Miles" "A Short Biography of Rooster 'Fighting Tiger'" and "The Ice Fox". "Wolf Walk Thousands of Miles" tells the story of a small pack of wolves rescued by human beings and released into the mountains. Under the guidance of their parents, the wolves grow up in the "greenhouse", gradually adapting to the crisis-ridden wilderness, and live happily. When the hunting dog escapes its owner and returns to the mountains, it destroys the peace and quiet there. A cub is killed, and the male wolf, desperate to protect his son, is killed by a poacher's forgotten hunting gear. Without their tough leader, the "tame" wolves are in an unprecedented predicament. They meander for thousands of miles, and through grueling trials and tribulations, quickly grow into self-reliant hunters and defenders of the mountains and forests. A short biography of the cockerel. "Fighting Tiger" is about the extraordinary adventures of a chicken. Through the whimsical "training" of two urban and rural schoolchildren, this small rooster, which had once circled a tiger in a zoo, nearly became the "black horse" in the "cockfighting" competition. The Ice Fox used to be a hunting dog. After the hunting ban, the village has become a folkloric tourist area, and the ice fox, which used to be favored by the hunters, has been given a cold shoulder. Unwilling to be lonely, it even attacked the pets brought by the tourists, and broke into trouble again and again. Lonely hound finally recovered its nature in nature, found friends, and recovered the happiness belonging to a family dog.

Rice is a collection of fictional works by Su Tong, which includes Rice, Three Lamps and Fish of the People. Rice has supported a greater number of people for a longer period of time than any other crop. Nearly half of the global population is dependent on rice as its major staple food. While Asia remains the main centre of production and consumption of rice, the importance of rice is increasing rapidly in Africa and Latin America, and exports of rice from the United States and Australia are of major importance to the world rice trade. This book explores the factors which have contributed to the sustainability of rice production over the eight or nine thousand years for which rice has been produced. Sustainability is defined as the maintenance or improvement of production levels and protection of natural resources, within the context of economic viability and social acceptability. The author covers a wide range of issues, including soil fertility, plant breeding, pest management, irrigation, land degradation and social and economic factors. Greatest emphasis is placed on the special features of wetland rice production, and the importance of the nutrient balance. It is also shown that without the Green Revolution there would have been a period of mass starvation in Asia, a problem which continues to threaten and which will be unavoidable unless the successes of the Green Revolution can be sustained. Less than two decades ago, the world was focusing on the impending food crisis across Asia, which was given little hope of ever being able to meet its rapidly growing food demand. Since then, Asia has made a quantum leap in food production. Technological innovations and policies that promoted intensive rice production systems helped achieve this. The authors of this book argue that there is a growing sense of complacency about future food supplies in Asia and that such complacency is not warranted. While rice productivity may increase, this will be limited by a number of factors: withdrawal of land and labor from agriculture to other uses, increased competition for resources, and land degradation. It is unlikely to match the increase in demand for rice because of population growth. The book provides a thorough assessment of the opportunities for increasing land productivity, including crop diversification. Aitmatow begann sein Arbeitsleben mit 14 Jahren als Gehilfe des Sekretärs des Dorfsowjets. Darauf folgten Tätigkeiten als Steuereintreiber, Lagerarbeiter und Maschinistenassistent. Da Kirgisistan zu dieser Zeit zu einer Sowjetrepublik wurde, hatte Aitmatow die Gelegenheit, an der neu eingerichteten russischen Schule in Scheker zu lernen und sich für ein Studium zu qualifizieren. 1946 begann er mit dem Studium der Veterinärmedizin, zunächst an der Technischen Hochschule im nahe gelegenen kasachischen Dschambul, und dann bis 1953 am Kirgisischen Landwirtschaftsinstitut in Frunse.
