Our original card sets are a way for any parent to play and interact with their child in a way that stimulates learning, improving cognitive skills and, perhaps more importantly, create a positive parent-child relationship. With the Carrot Cards both the parent and the child are engaged in an activity and they explore, learn, try, and experience together. We create every card set with a goal to make it as useful as possible, combining pedagogy and psychology, as well as aesthetics, creative writing and original concepts. Thus, allowing every child who opens a box of Carrot cards to experience a whole new learning experience. We have thousands of parents using the cards all over the world, sharing the excitement of learning and being curious together with their children. While striving to give more and more parents the opportunity to support their children’s development, we have also been recognized as a trustworthy partner for almost any kind of professionals working with children. From pre-school teachers to therapists, hundreds of experts use our cards in classrooms, offices, at presentations or as home assignments daily. Our contribution to early childhood development and our role as a supporter for parents were recognized in 2018 when we were selected as “Champions of Change” by the Reach for Change Foundation – Bulgaria, and we have been a part of the Reach for Change Global Network ever since.

The benefits of being outdoors in a leisure context are widely acknowledged across a range of disciplinary perspectives (including tourism, therapeutics, education and recreation). These benefits include the development of: health and wellbeing; social skills; leadership and facilitation skills; personal, emotional and reflective abilities; confidence and identity creation. Drawing on a variety of perspectives, geographies and approaches, this book explores the opportunities that leisure in the outdoors provides for learning, developing and challenging. The authors in this collection challenge dominant discourses of outdoor leisure through their selection of outdoor activities, theoretical approaches and modes of representation. All offer fresh insights and thinking into how leisure in the outdoors can be understood. The book covers a range of outdoor conceptualisations that challenge the reader to think deeply and broadly about the common threads which bind the broad field of outdoor leisure together. The experiences explored in this book range from suburban outdoors to wild places, surfing to mindful reflection, and trail walking to Nordic skiing, and encompass a broad spectrum of people. This book will appeal to outdoor scholars from a variety of contexts, including recreation, tourism, and adventure. It provides: ·original and leading research across layers of meaning attributed to and drawn from leisure experiences in the outdoors; ·value in theorising the notions of outdoor experiences; ·a variety and scope of contexts and approaches for students to draw on when learning about the field of outdoor leisure.

This book traces the career of Roy Ward Baker, one of the great survivors of the British film and television industry. He directed the landmark British film Morning Departure (1949), worked at Twentieth Century Fox in Hollywood in the early 1950s where he directed Marilyn Monroe's 'breakthrough' film (Don't Bother to Knock), and followed this with a succession of fine films for Rank, culminating in the best version of the Titanic disaster, A Night to Remember in 1958. Yet within three years he was unable to secure a job in the British film industry and he moved to television series such as The Avengers, The Saint and Minder. Later Baker re-emerged as a major director of science-fiction (Quatermass and the Pit) and horror films (Asylum). Geoff Mayer provides an industrial and aesthetic context in which to understand the interrelationship between a skilled classical director and the transformation of the British film industry in the 1950s. ;

The career of Wisconsin-born Joseph Losey spanned over four decades and several countries. A self-proclaimed Marxist and veteran of the 1930s Soviet agit-prop theater, he collaborated with Bertholt Brecht before directing noir B-pictures in Hollywood. A victim of McCarthyism, he later crossed the Atlantic to direct a series of seminal British films such as "Time Without Pity," "Eve," "The Servant," and "The Go-Between," which mark him as one of the cinema's greatest baroque stylists. His British films reflect on exile and the outsider's view of a class-bound society in crisis through a style rooted in the European art house tradition of Resnais and Godard. Gardner employs recent methodologies from cultural studies and poststructural theory, exploring and clarifying the films' uneasy tension between class and gender, and their explorations of fractured temporality.
