We see Lesya Ukrainka’s name every day on monuments and street signs, banknotes, and in-school classrooms. But how did Lesya herself see the world every day? As a living person, and not someone from an official portrait. What did she love, what did she laugh at and felt sad about, what did she write about in letters to the relatives, who was she friends with? This book was published to commemorate 150 years from the birth of the classic Ukrainian author Lesya Ukrainka. It is based on transcripts of conversations between Oksana Zabuzhko and His Beatitude Svyatoslav Shevchuk, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The works of Lesya Ukrainka, included in the second part of the book, are the main topic of their conversation, namely how the stories from evangelical and early Christian history formed the basis of her later work. Ukrainka's work was praised by the Soviet authorities for its socalled atheism but was censored from being staged in the theatres. Ukrainka's spiritual journey during the last twelve years of her life, her interpretation of the images of Judas and Christ, the cult of martyrdom, and the female role in the Christian context are thoroughly analysed in Zabuzhko and Shevchuk's conversations. Zabuzhko built a dialogue between Christianity, and what Soviet and post-Soviet critics called atheism that was in reality a conflict with synodal Orthodoxy.

The book includes the stories of extraordinary Ukrainians who made a significant personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian literature, theater, and poetry. We popularize the art of Ukrainian embroidery and highlight the private fragments of the lives of prominent Ukrainians that are little known to the general public. But the authors go further and present products sewn and embroidered by modern craftsmen, decorated with the same embroidery, as well as special schemes are presented, according to which everyone can reproduce both simple and complex ornaments from museum monuments in the material. VOLVER A MASADA por Amnon Ben-Tor Este libro resume los ocho volúmenes de la serie de Informes finales de Masada que se han publicado hasta la fecha. Las excavaciones en el sitio bajo la dirección de Yigael Yadin en la década de 1960 revelaron el palacio-fortaleza herodiano, que fue el último bastión de los rebeldes judíos en su revuelta contra las poderosas legiones romanas entre los años 66 a 73 de la era cristiana. Según el testimonio del historiador contemporáneo Flavio Josefo, los defensores optaron por suicidarse antes que rendirse. Cientos de voluntarios de todo el mundo participaron en dichas excavaciones.
