Author Biography
Oleksandr Boichenko is a literary critic, essay writer, columnist, translator, and former teacher at the Faculty of World Literature and Literary Theory at Chernivtsi University. Between 2002 and 2010, together with writer Yuri Andrukhovych, Boichenko co-edited the contemporary literature online journal named Potiah76. Oleksandr Boichenko is a fellow of Gaude Polonia Scholarship granted by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Poland (2005, 2008, 2013). In 2014, he was awarded A Medal for Merit to Polish Culture. In 2003, his book A Sort of Chautauqua (2003) won a top prize in the creative essay category in the Ukrainian competition Book of the Year. Among Boichenko’s books are: Chautauqua Plus (2005), To Have a Book (2011) Mine Among Strangers (2012), More or Less (2015), 50 Percent Rational (2016), and The Elimination Game (2022). Boichenko became a laureate of a prestigious Ukrainian prize in literature -Yuri Shevelov prize (2015). He also translates fiction and non-fiction from Polish and Russian into Ukrainian. Lives and works in Chernivtsi, Ukraine.
