        Aus dem Wörterbuch des Teufels

by Ambrose Bierce, Dieter E. Zimmer, Dieter E. Zimmer, Dieter E. Zimmer

by Bertolt Brecht, Gisela E. Bahr, Gisela E. Bahr

Bertolt Brecht wurde am 10. Februar 1898 in Augsburg geboren und starb am 14. August 1956 in Berlin.

by Robert E Evenson, Robert E Evenson, Vittorio Santaniello, Vittorio Santaniello

There are a number of controversial issues that surround agricultural biotechnology and genetically modified products. International trade and policies are at the forefront of these controversies. This book addresses these issues and has been developed from a meeting of the International Consortium on Agricultural Biotechnology Research, held in Revello, Italy, in July 2004. It covers five themes: analytical studies; empirical trade studies; spillover dimensions; intellectual property rights; and applied general equilibrium trade models. ; International Trade and Policies for Genetically Modified Products has been developed from the International Consortium on Agricultural Biotechnology Research. Conversations About Visiting and Managing the National Parks

        Crowdsourcing America’s Best Idea

by Robert E. Manning, Elizabeth E. Perry

As the popularity of the national parks grows, so do the challenges of visiting and managing them. This innovative book uses crowdsourcing - postings by park visitors on a range of social media sites - to start 100 conversations on issues associated with visiting and managing the national parks. The authors then use their experience and expertise to prepare short, plainspoken, and engaging essays that respond to the postings and complete the conversations. The book is written for park visitors, managers, and students. The authors are university professors who teach the history, philosophy, and management of national parks, conduct long-term programs of research for the National Park Service, and have spent years working and living in the national parks. This inventive, thoughtful, and inviting book addresses a wide range of national park-related issues, guides readers on how to more effectively plan and conduct their national park visits, informs park planners and managers about what visitors think about the parks, introduces the latest scientific and professional information on park management, helps prepare students for careers in park management, and enhances public appreciation and protection of the national parks. Preservation of our national parks has always required an active engagement with the public. The authors take this to a new level by responding directly to the many questions and comments posed by visitors on social media with thoughtful and informative responses. Jonathan B. Jarvis, eighteenth Director of the National Park Service

Jacopo da Varagine's Chronicle of the city of Genoa

        by C. E. Beneš

This book offers the first English translation of the Chronicle of the city of Genoa by the thirteenth-century Dominican Jacopo da Varagine, an author best known for his monumental book of saints' lives, the Golden legend. Jacopo's Chronicle presents a coherent vision of Genoa's place in history, the cosmos and Creation as written by the city's own archbishop - mixing eyewitness accounts with scholarly research about the city's origins and didactic reflections on the proper conduct of public and private life. Accompanied by an extensive introduction, this complete translation provides a unique perspective on a dynamic medieval city-state from one of its most important officials, broadening the available literature in English on medieval Italian urban life.
