EXCAVANDO LA CIUDAD DE DAVID – El lugar en el que comenzף la historia de Jerusalיn Las investigaciones arqueológicas llevadas a cabo en los 150 últimos años han identificado a la colina sudoriental de Jerusalén, fuera de las murallas de la Ciudad Vieja, como la Ciudad de David bíblica. El reconocimiento cada vez mayor de que esta colina es efectivamente la parte más antigua de Jerusalén ha llevado a muchos estudiosos a excavarla. Desde las primeras excavaciones hechas por Charles Warren en 1867 hasta el presente, catorce expediciones arqueológicas han trabajado allí, lo que ha hecho que la Ciudad de David sea uno de los sitios más excavados de Israel. Equipos británicos, alemanes, franceses e israelíes han excavado en el lugar bajo cuatro autoridades diferentes: el gobierno otomano, el mandato británico, el gobierno jordano y el israelí y han producido una asombrosa cantidad de información. Algunos de estos restos son de importancia única, entre ellos el túnel de Ezequías, el sistema de túneles conocido como el pozo de Warren, la inscripción del túnel de Siloé, la inscripción de Teodoto, y el estanque de Siloé. Were it not for authoritarian state censorship, Cecilia Bartolomé's name would figure alongside those of her contemporaries Agnès Varda and Claire Denis as a pioneering feminist filmmaker of the twentieth century. With this bold claim, this book seeks both to write the history of Bartolomé's extant filmography, and speculative about censored and un-filmed work, thereby fashioning a new way of writing a feminist creative life in film. The first volume on this director to be written in English, The Cinema of Cecilia Bartolomé is also the first volume on the director published in any language for over twenty years. Von Anfang an, so bezeugen es zahlreiche Briefe, war Rilke eingenommen von dem breiten, von Hochgebirgsketten flankierten Tal. »Welches Land«, schrieb er 1921, »hat so viele Einzelheiten in so großem Zusammenhang; es ist wie der Schlußsatz einer Beethoven-Symphonie.« Und im selben Jahr heißt es in einem anderen Brief: »Dieses Wallis … ist eine unvergleichliche Landschaft.« Im Spätsommer 1924 entstand in französischer Sprache der Zyklus der Quatrains Valaisans, der Walliser Vierzeiler. In ihrer Übertragung realisieren Gerhard Falkner und Nora Matocza den konsequenten Endreim des Originals erstmals auch in deutscher Sprache.
