Una cabeza distinta (A different head)

        by Luis Panini, Chiara Carrer

This child tells us that he is not happy with the head that he has. He thinks it is a wrong head. The parents, after listening to him, take him to a specialist, who agrees with the little one. A mysterious man dressed in black supplies him with heads in exchange for his own. The child tries several, until he finds the one he was looking for. A reindeer head, a crocodile head, a whisk head: the narrator child and protagonist of this story tells us about his disagreement with the head he has and the vicissitudes that he has to go through to find the head with which he will finally agree: the head of a grown man, of a mathematician. This is a story of search for identity and growth, developed with fine fantasy and humor, with the wisdom of someone he has sought and perhaps already found.

by Manuel Marín, José Clemente Orozco

“José Clemente Orozco realized that objects and animals see us with other faces, and he drew the sensations produced by these gazes, as seen in his sketches in this book,” says Marín. Orozco paints objects, shows that they are useful artifacts for seeing things like sensations. They are rare, and their uses aren’t what they should be.

        Our Caribbean Kin

Race and Nation in the Neoliberal Antilles

        by Reyes-Santos, Alaí

Our Caribbean Kin explores the extent to which Dominicans, Haitians, and Puerto Ricans have imagined one another as part of the same big family, rallying against the forces of European colonialism, US imperialism, and neoliberalism. Drawing from a vast archive of texts, ranging from nineteenth-century political tracts to twenty-first-century online forums, Alaí Reyes-Santos considers both the benefits and the limits of these kinship tropes, uncovering the conflicts and internal hierarchies among Antilleans, while also discovering how they have created cohesion across differences.

        90 partidos. 90 autores. 90 relatos

by David García Cames, Miguel Ángel Ortiz and Marcel Beltran

Football breaks down all doors, including those of literature. Contrary to popular belief, there are many writers who at some point were attracted by the mystery of the goal or the fervor of the stands. The ball sneaks into the work and life of authors who have built bridges between these two apparently dissociated worlds. From Marguerite Duras to Eduardo Galeano, passing through Albert Camus, Roberto Bolaño, Svetlana Aleksiévich or Federico García Lorca. This book is 90 games that were played one day. This book is made up of 90 stories, halfway between the chronicle and the tale, with which tribute is paid to 90 extraordinary creators who have influenced our way of understanding football.

        Iker Muniain

Un balón, un escudo, una vida

        by Patxi Xabier Fernández

Passionate, rebellious, non-conformist, rascal, fighter, referent. Faithful to some colors. There are many ways to define Iker Muniain, but only one to know the person who hides behind the footballer. “That boy with curly hair glued to a ball”, as Joaquín Caparrós recalls, the coach who made him debut at the age of 15, has already spent more than a decade making history with the Athletic Club shirt. This book tells how fame came to him as a teenager, how he fought off two serious knee injuries, how he became captain of his dream team, and how he snuck into a final dressed incognito. A journey through a unique life, in which pain and defeat are mixed with success and happiness. Very few know what elite football is like inside; In this authorized biography, Iker dares to tell it.

        Dinosaurios en otros planetas

        Stories

        by Danielle McLaughlin / Ca_teter

Anne Enright

Del gusano cósmico al cerebro del pulpo

        Ensayos sobre ciencia

        by Juan Carlos Fontecilla Camps

Mister Lubbock’s Miscellanea of Essential Facts and Useless Trivia

        by Paulo Ferreira

Did you know that the oxygen you breathe today has already passed through the lungs of Napoleon and Genghis Khan? Or that the water you just drank was acquainted with Jesus Christ’s kidneys? Or that astrology is still based on the location of celestial bodies, even though the universe is expanding? Penicillin was discovered by chance, and so was viagra. And post its only exist because of an attempt to not waste glue that turned out to be a failure (and because God is good). Newton thought that inventing calculus was important, but not as much as studying the distinguished science that was alchemy. This might just be why our brain tries so hard to fill in the blanks in our memory with false imagens and facts. Speaking of fake news, can we stop arguing over whether Columbus was Portuguese or Spanish, because the first people to arrive in America were the vikings.
