        Color and Light -- Western Painting appreciation

        by Xi Chuanji

        This book tells the history of western art from primitive art to modern art in a simple and easy way in a short space of 25 lectures. The main words are not complicated, and the style is precise. Therefore, it has even been adopted as a textbook by many colleges and vocational schools. For art lovers and ordinary readers, it is also a good concise book for popular art appreciation. An art gallery without walls, Ancient Greece, Impressionism, Romanticism... Twenty-five fine galleries of Western art, each displaying only three or five works. A history of minimalist western art from primitive painting to modern abstract art, under the guidance of an art historian, from form to color, from color to light, from light to shadow, are so three-dimensional and vivid. A new reprint of the once popular Western art appreciation manual, an art bible to take with you. This book is included in the catalogue of Middle and Primary School Reading Books of Zhongnan Media.

        The annals of St-Bertin

        Ninth-century histories, volume I

        by Janet Nelson

        The Annals of St-Bertin, covering the years 830 to 882, are the main narrative source for the Carolingian world in the ninth century. This richly-annotated translation by a leading British specialist makes these Carolingian histories accessible in English for the first time, encouraging readers to reassess and evaluate a crucially formative period of European history. Produced in the 830s in the imperial palace of Louis the Pious, The Annals of St-Bertin were continued away from the Court, first by Bishop Prudentius of Troyes, then by the great scholar-politician Archbishop Hinemar of Rheims. The authors' distinctive voices and interests give the work a personal tone rarely found in medieval annals. They also contain uniquely detailed information on Carolingian politics, especially the reign of the West Frankish king, Charles the Bald (840-877). No other source offers so much evidence on the Continental activities of the Vikings. Janet L. Nelson offers in this volume both an entrée to a crucial Carolingian source and an introduction to the historical setting of teh Annals and possible ways of reading the evidence. The Annals of St-Bertin will be valuable reading for academics, research students and undergraduates in medieval history, archaeology and medieval languages. It will also fascinate any general reader with an interest in the development of European culture and society. ;

        Heritage Tourism Destinations

        Preservation, Communication and Development

        by Edited by Maria D. Alvarez, Atila Yüksel, Frank Go

        Heritage tourism is tied to myth making and stories; creative content that can be shared, stored, combined and manipulated, but that depends on a unique cultural or natural history. A significant section of the wider phenomenon that is cultural tourism, heritage tourism is a demand-driven industry that continues to be a subject of heated debate in academic circles. Beginning with an overview of the subject, this book considers the conservation and revitalization of heritage destinations, as well as the role local communities have in supporting an attraction. It then discusses product development and communication around the world, using new techniques such as social media and examples from food tourism and sporting events, before a final section reviews the planning and institutionalisation of heritage spaces. A timely conclusion subsequently considers the implications of developments such as globalisation, technological improvement and climate change upon these unique destinations. A valuable addition to the literature, this book is the first to bridge the gap between theory and practice, including the latest research and international case studies for researchers and practitioners in tourism and destination management.

        Das Verbrechen des einundzwanzigsten Jahrhunderts. Die Kinder

        Stücke und Materialien

        by Edward Bond, Brigitte Landes

        Edward Bond wurde 1934 in der Londoner Vorstadt Holloway geboren. 1956 schrieb er erste Gedichte und Stückentwürfe und trat 1960 einer Dramatikergruppe um John Osborne, Arnold Wesker und John Arden bei. 1962 wurde Bonds erstes Stück, The Pope's Wedding (Die Hochzeit des Papstes), in London uraufgeführt. Sein zweites Theaterstück, Saved (Gerettet), provozierte einen der größten Skandale der britischen Theatergeschichte: Das Stück wurde kurz nach seiner Premiere im November 1965 im Royal Court Theatre aufgrund von expliziter Gewaltdarstellung von der Zensur verboten. Die sich anschließende Diskussion um Freiheit der Kunst bewirkte 1968 das Ende der britischen Theaterzensur. Große Erfolge wurden Anfang der 1970er Jahre seine Lear-Bearbeitung und das Stück The Sea (Die See). In den kommenden Jahrzehnten zahlreiche Stücke, Opernlibretti für Hans Werner Henze, Arbeit an Theatern, für den Film (u.a. Mitarbeit am Drehbuch zu Antonionis Film Blow up) und das Fernsehen. Edward Bond lebt in der Nähe von Cambridge. Brigitte Landes, geboren 1946 in Frankfurt/Main. Sie arbeitet freiberuflich als Dramaturgin, Regisseurin und Autorin.
