Juan Vásquez, valiéndose únicamente del poder de la imagen genera un retrato que resalta la fuerza de las culturas precolombinas. Necrotax y Mauricio Menares hacen actualizaciones de leyendas nacionales del sur de Chile, la Pincoya, el Trauco, el Chonchón. Esteban Morales plantea una corta historia sobre el animalismo. Propuestas que se acercan a la literatura por los materiales que trabajan, leyendas y literatura latinoamericana. La obra de Claudio Rocco es una muestra del cómic strip o historieta de humor, cercana al cartoon. El arte de Iván Llanos demuestra su interpretación de una cultura del videojuego y el manga, mientras que Bastián Brauning, portadista e ilustrador expone un arte cercano al tatuaje y al graffiti con una mirada contestaria y punk.Escapando del límite de los centralismos y la mirada reduccionista de los grandes centros. La huella de Krazy Kat y George Herriman en Argentina

George Herriman with his “The Krazy Kat” was one of the architects of the comic. His merit was that despite the patronage of his admirer, the American press mogul William R. Hearst, he never lost or betrayed his creative freedom. However, translating his work into Spanish in Latin America was not an easy task, much less for writers who had to adapt their strip to the Argentine idiosyncrasy. In the following pages we will try to investigate his work, its problematic translation into Spanish and its journey in one of the main Argentine newspapers of all time. George Herriman con su “The Krazy Kat”, fue uno de los arquitectos de la historieta. Su mérito fue que a pesar del padrinazgo de su admirador, el magnate de la prensa estadounidense William R. Hearst, nunca perdió ni traiciono su libertad creativa. Sin embargo traducir su obra al español en latinoamericano fue tarea fácil y mucho menos para escritores que tenían que adaptar su tira cómica a la idiosincrasia argentina.

October 202018-10 Reflexion Visual del Estallido Social en Chile

Work that represents a visual testimony of the social outbreak that was presented in Chile in October 2019, without censorship or cuts. Illustrations, vignettes and comics that in an intimate and stark way show the various experiences and points of view of young artists. Visions of social criticism, community, hope, joy, effervescence, violence and pain are presented. In this careful and attractive work, the best 86 works obtained through an open call by RRSS are compiled. It is an eminently visual book (with large, full-color illustrations and comics); trilingual (with translations into English and French); and informative (includes notes with reflections from the artists and comments from the editor). The compilation and production of the book was in charge of the publisher María Eliana Aguayo. Regarding the creation of the book, the editor comments: “We are very happy with the success of the call, we received more than 500 works from more than 150 authors from different parts of the country and abroad (…) The hardest work was selecting, ordering and systematize all this, the works, reflections and notes”.

In recent years, Lorenzo Montatore has demonstrated an unusual ability to combine a variety of references. In his works we can see the influence of literary classics, key figures from graphic humour, comics, music and, of course, 8-bit videogames. This all combines to create a highly original approach to the language of comics, praised by fellow industry professionals and critics alike. In 2017 and 2021 he was nominated for the Cómic Barcelona awards in the best new author and best children’s comic categories. Restless and prolific, in addition to collaborations with major publishers, Montatore has created numerous self-published offerings. Obras Incompletas compiles a major part of the fanzines that he has published over the last five years. It also includes unpublished comics and plenty of additional material: photos, sketches, texts providing background to each piece, a complete interview by Gerardo Vilches and a prologue by Rubén Lardín allowing the reader to enjoy a total immersion in the fascinating imaginary world of an author who manages to blend tradition and modernity to make, in Max’s words, “pure comics”.

Uncle Gorio, originally published on 18 November 1901 in El Adelanto, is one of the few stories written by the poet José María Gabriel y Galán.Juan Luis Iglesias and C. de Cruz, scriptwriter and cartoonist, both from Extremadura, adapt this work representative of Galán's universe to the language of comics with an original approach. Gabriel y Galán becomes the narrator and protagonist of his story by interacting with his own characters, Uncle Gorio and Aunt Pulía, a couple united by love and convenience. An entertaining comic strip that takes place during a literary gathering between Emilia Pardo Bazán, Benito Pérez Galdós and Gabriel y Galán, where we are shown the vision the poet had of his countrymen, between criticism and affection, while the writers reflect on literary art and recall intimate anecdotes.A tribute to José María Gabriel y Galán, the poet of the Castilian and Extremaduran soul, on the 150th anniversary of his birth.
