Author Biography
Toledo, 1970. Singer, percussionist, writer, illustrator and graduate of the Toledo School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in the specialty of Interior Design.
She began her musical career collaborating in different projects as a soloist and percussionist in Medievalistas Al-Ándalus together with the prestigious Sudanese instrumentalist Wafir S. Gibril. Her contribution as a soloist in numerous recordings of classical Arabic music for various projects by the lute player José Aurelio Ferrández, among other renowned musicians, should be highlighted.
In 2005 she was selected as a solo singer and percussionist for the Toledo Celtic folk group Almez. In 2007 she founded the electro-acoustic folk group Ethnos Atramo together with the composer and music producer Gabriel Navalón, where she currently develops her career as a professional musician. In this duo she contributes the solo voice, the choirs, traditional percussions and stringed instruments such as the rabel and the lyraki in two recordings: Ethnos Atramo and Water Synagogue, both edited by Severalia Música and included in. the list 25 Best Records of the Year prepared by DiarioFolk. She is the protagonist in the video clips associated with these two works with Gabriel Navalón: The Promises of Janus, Songs, the Water Synagogue, The Rose, Behind the Window, Vanquished with Love and Stork and Snake.
In 2014 the Iberian Dance Company contacted the group for the composition of the soundtrack for their multidisciplinary stage production Maimonides, a journey without return, of which Gabriel Navalón is the author.
In her role as a writer and illustrator, first in specialized children's literature, she publishes her first illustrated album Pipa MacLeo; and later, she writes and illustrates, with the collaboration of Gabriel Navalón. Her first novel for adults: Where there were no wolves.
