For a Lark
by Seth Goodman
Description
Melody “Lark” Larkness wants one thing and one thing only—to survive. A neglected child and a broken adult, Lark has learned to keep her head down and do what it takes to keep going. Stripping for a living is hardly the step forward in life, but it brings in cash along with the dodgy characters. She has no friends and family to speak of, none that she has allowed to stay around—until Starlight. A club like no other. The workers are friendly, the management cares, and the dancers are the stars.
Lark doesn’t buy it.
She knows too well, if something is too good to be true, it probably is. And the same goes for Romeo Mendes, the manager of the pizza store next door. Dark-haired, sweet-faced and soft-spoken, Romeo is unlike any man she’s met. He seems to want nothing from her—other than friendship. But his searching eyes and pink-tinged ears tell a different story.
Will Lark choose to trust Romeo and the host of new people Starlight has ushered into her life? And if she lets her guard down, will she be able to recognize the monster amongst them in time?

Author Biography
Seth Goodman hasn’t always liked writing, but after winning his school's writing contest in the 8th grade and having an English professor who encouraged him to “submit, submit,” you would think he’d have pursued it at least a little. Nonetheless, it was years–alright, decades, let’s just be honest–of his wife saying, “write your book” that finally did it.
A career educator, he has dabbled in a number of side gigs, but with the inspiration to write about Lark, a beautiful but damaged exotic dancer living rent free in his head, he finally broke down and committed the words to the page. Now, with his debut novel in the works, he can only wonder why he took so long to get started.
When not writing or working with schools, Seth can be found running, cycling, kayaking, and spending time with his cats. Of course, he remains eternally grateful to his aforementioned wife for never wavering in her belief in him.
