100 Chinese Classical Verses Rendered into Songs
Legend has it that when Emperor Yu tamed the flood, he divided the world into “Nine Regions” , so the term has become synonymous with China. It is this land that gave birth to the fine Chinese traditional culture, which has been passed down from generation to generation, which has been rejuvenated despite repeated internal conflicts and foreign invasions. The profound Chinese culture crystallizes the profound wisdom of the Chinese people. As a country of poetry, China has a long history of poetry writing, producing a large number of famous poets and numerous volumes of masterpieces. Poetry is a magnificent part of Chinese excellent traditional culture. From the classical poems, we can appreciate not only the elegance of Li Bai, the depression of Du Fu, the freshness of Meng Haoran, the simplicity of Bai Juyi, the poetic and artistic grace of Wang Wei, and the extraordinary and refined nature of Su Shi, but also the romance and sentimentality of those in love, and the intense emotions of those idealists and patriots. Classical poetry reflects the Chinese outlook on life, values, aesthetics, as well as their wisdom and emotion. Chinese classical poetry was originally meant for people to recite and sing. We invited musicians and singers to render the poems into songs. We also invited Mr. Ma Bailiang to translate each poem into English, in the hope of carrying the cadence and rhythm through into English, so that foreign friends can also savor the artistic charm of Chinese classical poetry. The poems in this collection are accompanied by songs, English translation, musical score, and drawings, thus enabling Chinese and foreign readers to fully appreciate the beauty and rhythm of Chinese classical poetry.
