Modern taxonomic treatments of the grass family (Poaceae, Gramineae) recognize about 10,000 species and as many as 785 genera. Sie lebt auf der Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, ist offizielle Sprecherin der Dakota-Indianer und wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Michael Schlottner, geboren 1956, ist Ethnologe und arbeitet in mehreren Forschungsprojekten an der Universität Frankfurt. Seit 1987 beteiligt an Feldforschungen in den USA, Kanada und Ghana.
