      This book is for both teachers and students of universities and colleges who are working on, or are interested in, the subject of Greenhouse Technology, or in dealing with subjects related to crop science. This book also targets researchers, extension workers and individual entrepreneurs to provide a clear and handy idea about greenhouse technology. The book is divided into 8 chapters. Chapter 1 contains the introduction, which elaborates on the reason and necessity of cultivation under greenhouse, the definition of greenhouse, and the history and present scenario of greenhouse cultivation. Chapter 2 narrates the meaning of greenhouse technology, the planning of greenhouse, the subjects involved in it, the fundamental points which are required to be understood for different climatic situations and the purpose of a greenhouse. Chapter 3 deals with the importance of different climatic and non-climatic factors in selecting proper greenhouse technology. This chapter also highlights the different measuring systems required for greenhouse technology. Chapter 4 describes in detail the design and construction of a greenhouse, which includes basic forms and types of greenhouses, its different covering materials, particular aspects of construction, cost estimates for different types of greenhouses etc. Chapter 5 introduces the innovative Bamboo Greenhouse Technology. It starts with the preparation of bamboo and ends with the detailed design and construction aspects of this unique low-cost, scientific and highly efficient greenhouse. Chapter 6 is the most important chapter for greenhouse technology. It elaborates on the control mechanisms for different climatic components, such as light, temperature, humidity, precipitation, and carbon dioxide. Chapter 7 discusses the important aspects of cultivation and special methods of crop husbandry which are essential for greenhouse cultivation. These include crop selection, bed preparation, fertilizer application, irrigation, canopy management, training and pruning, and pest management. Chapter 8 is the last chapter, and it provides some tips for the cultivation of a few important crops which are generally deemed suitable for the greenhouse.

The summary of the contents of the book may be pointed as: Chapter-I is planned to discuss introductory aspects of fish transportation. Chapter-II explains brief historical review of the process of fish transportation. Chapter-III begins with the process of determination of aquatic and bimodal oxygen uptake of fishes. The detailed account of oxygen uptake seems to be plinth for fish transportation. Chapter-IV gives an account of oxygen uptake of fishes under association in still water and continuously flowing water conditions. The information is necessary for the calculation of either increase or decrease of oxygen requirement during packing of fishes in a grouped condition. The study helps in determination of optimum number of fishes considered for packing. Chapter-V explains determination of optimum dose of anaesthetics namely Benzocaine and MS-222 of fishes and its effect on the oxygen uptake. The information is helpful for the calculation of decrease of oxygen requirement during packing of fishes. Chapter-VI deals with effect of ammonia on ultra structure of gill under scanning electron microscope and oxygen uptake of fishes. The study is helpful in deciding calculation of complete requirement of oxygen for packing. Chapter-VII critically explains evaluation of suitable packing conditions based on the information from Chapters III to VI under normal situation and present situation of COVID-19. Chapter-VIII reviews a general discussion of entire account of various processes of fish transportation. Chapter-IX describes summary and conclusions observed from the work of fish transportation. Chapter-X deals with a flow sheet, a proposal and a future scope of fish transportation.

      Medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) are invaluable natural resources of use to human race, without which the survival of human/ animal race is incredible. There is an enormous diversity of plants which are put into medicinal, beauty care and culinary purposes. Cultivation of commercially important medicinal plants is in high demand as the global community is growing towards a green and herbal oriented approach. India as a country has thousands of years old traditional medicinal systems which rely solely on medicinal plants. There is a gradual loss of medicinal plants with the increasing demand of plant derived drugs. Majority of medicinal plants are still collected from the wild. This doesnt meet the demand and thereby pave ways to adulterants. The over extraction and ignorant activities cause biodiversity loss. Farm production of MAPs in these days is extremely vulnerable to underlying climate risk. Sustainable management of these resources requires urgent attention for environmental stability and improvement of livelihood. New income generating opportunities are opening up for rural populations and in particular for small-scale farmers as well as marginal farmers through MAPs cultivation. New generation are not well aware of the various uses of many plants to which it was put before. Thus there is an urgent need to spread the knowledge and conserve the wild populations of medicinal plant diversity in various forest areas of India. Considering the importance of the MAPs, an attempt was taken in this edited book to understand and highlight the role of MAPs in livelihood improvement and income generation through cultivation, conservation and utilisation. Most of the chapters in this book dealt with individual medicinal plants in detail. Two chapters have also been included on pests and diseases management of MAPs. Nowadays, IPR issues are more important. One chapter has been included on IPR issues on medicinal plants. A chapter also devoted on value addition of the medicinal plant products.
