minibombo
Minibombo makes picture books characterized by clear images and solid colours, telling stories with a short text or no text at all. The books aim to create a participated reading process between adults and children and require a bit of creativity and cooperation on their part. Minibombo loves to explore different types of communication. This is why some of its paper stories have become the starting point for creating digital applications. The apps refer to the original stories in the books and develop them further by exploiting a different code. All the minibombo apps are available worldwide on the App Store and Google Play. Minibombo started in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 2013. Since its beginnings, it has been highly appreciated both by readers and operators in the sector and has been awarded several prizes which have helped make its books known among a wide public. Its books are translated in more than fourteen counties worldwide.

Shakespeare, Italy and intertextuality
by Michele Marrapodi
Newly available in paperback, this collection of essays, written by distinguished international scholars, focuses on the structural influence of Italian literature, culture and society at large on Shakespeare's dramatic canon. Exploring recent methodological trends coming from Anglo-American new historicism and cultural materialism and innovative analyses of intertextuality, the volume's four thematic sections deal with 'Theory and practice', 'Culture and tradition', 'Text and ideology' and 'Stage and spectacle'. In their own views and critical perspectives, the individual chapters throw fresh light on the dramatist's pliable technique of dramatic construction and break new ground in the field of influence studies and intertextuality as a whole. A rich bibliography of secondary literature and a detailed index round off the volume. ;

A History of the University of Manchester, 1973–90
by Brian Pullan, Michele Abendstern
Frank and entertaining account of the University of Manchester's struggle to meet the Government's demands for the rapid expansion of higher education in the 1950s and the 1960s. Looks at the University's ambitious building program: the controversial attempts to reform its constitution and improve its communications amid demands for greater democracy in the workplace, the struggle to retain its old pre-eminence in a competitive world where new 'green field' universities were rivalling older civic institutions. Tells the story, not just from the point of view of administrators and academics, but also from those of students and support staff (such as secretaries, technicians and engineers). Uses, not only official records, but also student newspapers, political pamphlets, and reminisences collected through interviews conducted by an experienced oral historian. The only book on the University of Manchester as a whole.

Eu não tenho medo
by Niccolò Ammaniti
The hottest summer of the century. Four houses lost among the wheat fields. The big ones are locked in the house. Six children, on their bicycles, venture into the burning and abandoned countryside. In the middle of that sea of ears hides a frightening secret, a secret that will change forever the life of one of them, Michele, a 9-year-old boy. The story is set in the torrid summer of 1978, in the countryside of an unidentified southern Italy, but evoked with rare descriptive force. In this landscape dominated by the contrast between the blinding light of the sun and the darkness of the night, Ammaniti alternates, with wise narrative moments, comedy, the world of children's relationships, the language and the burlesque wisdom of children, their tenacity, the strength of friendship and the drama of betrayal. And at the same time he sketches an unforgettable display of adult characters. A novel of self-discovery through the most extreme risk and the need to face it, Io non ho paura becomes a poignant farewell to the age of play and amazement, to the magical energy that makes us fight monsters. And it insinuates itself under the skin of all of us, like a light stab in the chest.

Bacterial Pili
Structure, Synthesis and Role in Disease
by Michele A Barocchi, John L Telford
Bacterial pili play important roles as environmental sensors, in host colonization and in biofilm formation, enabling bacteria to interact with the environment, with surfaces and with other bacteria and host cells. Most bacteria, both Gram positive and Gram negative, and almost all bacterial pathogens, are piliated. This book discusses the synthesis, structure, evolution, function and role in pathogenesis of these complex structures, and their basis for vaccine development and therapeutics for Streptococcus pathogens. It is an invaluable resource for researchers and students of medical microbiology.
