God is also a bitch
by Maria Paz Guerrero
“The appearance of God is also a bitch” has shaken the commonplaces of poetic language and has earned María Paz Guerrero sustained national and international recognition. The Colombian author's first book of poems also marks a turning point in the willingness of expression of young poetry in the country and proposes a new way of thinking about our own fragility through experimentation and sharp and hilarious contempt. For Himpar editores, we are proud to present this title to our readers in a second corrected edition.[...]but god was wronggod was the queen of painthat's how she managed to attract attentionso she managed to have loversthat mistreated godbecause poor godgod is so weakcryhe stays at homelocked upstudying and workinghe stays at hometremblingbecause everything hurts God[...]”

Pink Tongue Out, Blind Female Cat
by Maria Paz Guerrero
“Himpar editores inaugurates its poetry collection with the new book by María Paz Guerrero, one of the most audacious voices of contemporary Colombian poetry. This book is no exception to Guerrero's quests: it is experimental, full of heartbreaking humor and combines the exploration of the animal with popular speech and the materiality of flesh and language. María Paz Guerrero's third collection of poems is inhabited by a series of characters: a blind cat that hits herself against everything she comes across; bodies that undergo medical examinations to measure the progress of the disease in their organs; legs that can barely hold on until they collapse; a language that unravels like a kite's pita; repetitions and verses crossed and transformed by songs by Héctor Lavoe, Henry Fiol and Simón Díaz. The structure of the book is also novel. It has a unity that is configured from the repetitions of characters and verses that reappear slightly transformed, each time. It differs from books that gather a multitude of singular poems. For its part, the language seems very simple, almost spoken, with a strange syntax, cut, broken. It is a bet on a musical poetry with some raw images, which differentiates it from the metaphorical poetry of abstract images.”

Weiblich, dynamisch, verpeilt
Mein Leben und ich
by Agustina Guerrero, Sabine Erbrich
Achtung, Wiedererkennungsgefahr!

There is no soundtrack
Rethinking art, media, and the audio-visual contract
by Ming-Yuen S. Ma
There is no soundtrack is a study of how sound and image produce meaning in contemporary experimental media art by artists ranging from Chantal Akerman to Nam June Paik to Tanya Tagaq. It contextualises these works and artists through key ideas in sound studies: voice, noise, listening, the soundscape and more. The book argues that experimental media art produces radical and new audio-visual relationships challenging the visually dominated discourses in art, media and the human sciences. In addition to directly addressing what Jonathan Sterne calls 'visual hegemony', it also explores the lack of diversity within sound studies by focusing on practitioners from transnational and diverse backgrounds. As such, it contributes to a growing interdisciplinary scholarship, building new, more complex and reverberating frameworks to collectively sonify the study of culture.

Bean Trellis, My Mother-in-law
by Ma Ruifang
As the Chinese saying goes, "mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law are natural enemies". However, Bean Trellis, My Mother-in-law depicts the close bond of the author as daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law for more than three decades. Wherein lies the secret? "仁" Benevolence, "义" righteousness, "礼" courtesy, "智" wisdom, and "信" faith are constant beliefs of the Chinese people, which in the author's eyes are also the most admirable qualities of her mother-in-law, who is illiterate, yet hardworking, kind, and full of the wisdom of simple life. Her kindness and generosity is just the secret to the well-being of the whole family. Aside from describing the unique in-law relationship, this book also looks at the ups and downs of a big Chinese family from the 1970s to the 2020s. With humorous and documentary storytelling, the author wrote her life stories just like chatting with neighbors under the bean trellis. It is all-encompassing, containing traditional Chinese wisdom about getting along with the world, educating children, and even cooking, which could provide new reading experiences and inspiration for all readers.

Lines Written with the Green Pen
by Mei Zihan, Ma Xiaode
Lines Written with the Green Pen is a poem for children written by the famous children's literature writer Mei Zihan. It is about a boy trying to write poems with his green pen. At first, he doubts whether he can write poems. Then he takes a walk and starts creating his own lines—he says hello to the sky; he wonders about the leaves, birds’ chirping, the gone clouds, the old lady and the yellow dress… He, the “little ant poet”, writes, “Those who are dreaming are awake. Hence, the night and the day meet on the pillow.” In the end, he drops down his green pen and decides to fly and be the child as he is.
