        States of enmity

The politics of hatred in the early modern Kingdom of Naples

        by Stephen Cummins

State of enmity explores how relations of hatred and enmity played political and social roles in the early modern Kingdom of Naples. Exploring the pervasive notion of enmity and practices of reconciliation, the book provides new insight into the social dynamics of southern Italy in the early modern period. In particular, widespread banditry and the violent tenor of local politics are analysed through a wide variety of criminal trials and other sources.

        Where Do Daddies Come From?

        A Pregnancy Guide for Men

        by Steve Cummins

Steve Cummins is the father of two strong, beautiful boys, one of whom came as a bigger shock than George W getting elected to a second term while the other was more planned than Stalin's first five years in power. One was an emergency caesarean while the other was pushed out in a shower of urine and expletives (mostly from the author - not his wife!). Steve is a professional comedian which has had the added benefits of him having taken care of his boys since his wife finished maternity leave since he works mostly at night (Yes,he is a yummy mummy!).   This book is a seriously funny take on pregnancy and childbirth but, don't worry, you will also learn lots and have a laugh while doing so. Pregnancy and babies are an amazing experience and a huge challenge at the same time. You are about to be given an incredible gift, one you will love in a way you heretofore never thought possible. You are also going to feel left out, alienated, confused, terrified and grossed out. Horny too, but what else is new. While everyone accepts and makes allowances for the mother, no one ever thinks of the father. This is a book for men. By all means read her the odd excerpt (Steve even put in a few paragraphs that keep her sweet for this very reason) but for the love of God don't let her get her hands on it! Steve Cummins is a comedian, broadcaster and writer. He is currently the resident host of The Laughter Lounge, Ireland's largest and most prestigious comedy club. He has performed comedy on national and international TV and regularly performs abroad. Steve has written and performed comedy for TV and Radio shows and also wrote the Dad's Diary column in Mothers & Babies magazine of the Irish Independent for over a year.

        The Lighthouse

        by Alison Moore

Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2012 On the outer deck of a North Sea ferry stands Futh, a middle-aged and newly separated man, on his way to Germany for a restorative walking holiday. After an inexplicably hostile encounter with a hotel landlord, Futh sets out along the Rhine. As he contemplates an earlier trip to Germany and the things he has done in his life, he does not foresee the potentially devastating consequences of things not done. The Lighthouse, Alison Moore’s first novel, tells the tense, gripping story of a man trying to find himself, but becoming lost. “Melancholy and haunting. The sense of loneliness and discomfort and rejection is compelling, the low key prose carefully handled. It’s a serious novel with a distinctive and unsettling atmosphere.” —Margaret Drabble “It is this accumulation of the quotidian, in prose as tight as Magnus Mills’s, which lends Moore’s book its standout nature, and brings the novel to its ambiguous, thrilling end.” —Philip Womack, The Telegraph “‘The Lighthouse’ looks simple but isn't, refusing to unscramble what seems a bleak moral about the hazards of reproduction, in the widest sense. Small wonder that it stood up to the crash-testing of a prize jury's reading and rereading. One of the year's 12 best novels? I can believe it.” —Anthony Cummins, The Observer “This is a book that might have vanished had it not been picked up by the Booker judges. It deserves to be read, and reread. No laughs, no levity, just a beautiful, sad, overripe tale that lingers in the mind.” —Isabel Berwick, Financial Times

Jesus and the Victory of God

        by N. T. Wright

Wright sets out in fascinating detail his own compelling account of how Jesus himself understood his mission: how he believed himself called to remake Israel, the people of God, around himself; how he announced God's judgement on the Israel of his day, especially its Temple and hierarchy; and how he saw his own movement as the divinely ordained fulfilment of Israel's destiny. Nearly twenty years on, this book is still a major point of reference for serious study of the historical Jesus Companion volume to The New Testament and the People of God (1992), The Resurrection of the Son of God (2003) and Paul and the Faithfulness of God (2013)

        Fisheries and Aquaculture Economics

by A.P. Upadhyay, Ajit KumarRoy & Pramodh Kumar Pandey

This book provides a detailed overview to the topic of international fisheries governance and the drivers of IUU fishing. Technologies that directly address these challenges reduce costs and improve and expand farm operations both offshore and especially on land are reported in this communication. The book provides information on the following areas to scientists, resource managers and researchers working with big data to advance more sustainable fisheries practices. Modeling in the areas of Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Specific Feeding Ratio (SFR), Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that are needed for efficient management of resources for sustainable production from fisheries sector. Neural Network forecasts that exceeded other traditional forecasting methods such as linear or logistic regression systems. Application of Big Data Analytics in aquaculture that facilitated to bring the techniques of aquaculture to a new level of in depth understanding and unlocking the economic potential of improved management decisions particularly can spot business trends, prevent disease, combat crime, and even revolutionize the health of fisheries. Application of ANN to forecast water quality and temperature that benefits aquaculture process control. Sensor Technology that offers real-time environmental monitoring system for aquaculture in a wide range of areas and visual signal processing system to continuously control the feeding process of fish in aquaculture tanks. Artificial Intelligence Systems that in turn helps in increased process efficiency; reduced energy and water losses; reduced labor costs; reduced stress and disease; better understanding of the process and efficient accounting are also. Data Mining for better control on the food loss and food quality in the aqua farming industry. Analysis of Value Chain of Processed Fish Products Partial Budget Analysis for better understanding of the farms financial status and more efficient use of the resources available particularly for aquaculture practices. Tips for right type of statistical test to equip the social science researchers capable of performing of Statistical tests for various rating scales mostly used for social sciences research. A holistic, global-scale focus on challenges of IUU and technology initiatives to face the challenge This unique book explores a wide range of analytical issues centered on the aquaculture process management. It is expected that this book will be most useful who aims in achieving FAOs Sustainable Development Goal 14, which calls on the international community to effectively regulate fish harvesting end overfishing, illegal fishing, and destructive fishing practices, and to implement science-based management.
