Evita – de Dvora Schechner Esta es la fascinante historia de Eva Perón (1919-1952) en su corta pero intensa trayectoria. Trata de las pasiones, los temores y los odios, las gentes, las situaciones y el entorno que la hicieron ser “Evita”. “Confieso que tengo una ambición, una gran ambición personal: quisiera que el nombre de Evita figurase alguna vez en la Historia de mi Patria” escribió unos meses antes de morir. Indudablemente ha conquistado su lugar. Más, ese lugar ?donde se encuentra? Numerosas son las obras que protagoniza, tanto estudios académicos como novelas, cine, teatro, poesía. La mayoría adopta uno de los mitos contradictorios de quien fue la mujer más amada, pero también la más odiada y temida en su tiempo. Para unos es La Abanderada de los Trabajadores, La Madre de los Humildes, Santa Evita. Para otros, La prostituta, La Mujer del Látigo, La Nazi-Peronista. A 20 años de su muerte, hubo jóvenes que creían que si Evita viviera, sería una guerrillera Montonera. En esta biografía Evita es observada desde otras latitudes. Se analiza la revolución peronista y se revisa nuevamente la doctrina de Juan Perón, en la cual ensambla perfectamente la Evita real, que plasma su propio carisma para actuar en un régimen populista autoritario. Esta, la Evita de verdad, es más interesante y rica en facetas, que cualquier leyenda. La autora, Dvora Schechner – escritora y educadora israelí, miembro del kibbutz Gazit en la Baja Galilea – es nacida en Buenos Aires en 1930. En su adolescencia se opuso al peronismo hasta que emigró a Israel en 1952, dos meses antes de la muerte de Eva Perón. Una película documental con las fotos de los millones de argentinos llorándola la impulsó a tratar de descifrar el enigma de esa personalidad histórica. ?Quién fue Evita; qué hay detrás del amor y del odio que despierta es mujer hasta hoy mismo? Dvora Schechner estudió Humanidades en el Seminario Oranim, es licenciada en Filosofía e Historia en la Universidad de Tel Aviv. Escribió: La Guerra Civil Española (1962 – 1970), La Inquisición Española (1972), Evita (1995), Una Muchacha Política (2003).

Overcoming her pain, she hides her injuries from Aurelio and tells him the extraordinary story of her mother, which propelled her to undertake such a madness. The story begins 6 years ago in Tenerife, with Nayra's expulsion from Philosophy class for the third time in a week, causing Pablo, her father, to pick her up from school and embark on a long day of disputes, confessions, and finally, complicities between them. Walking around Santa Cruz, canceling classes and professional commitments, Pablo and Nayra spend the day discovering a personal and sentimental reality that surprises them. The problems Nayra mentions with a group of immigrant classmates, along with the aggression Nayra shows towards her mother, Lola, prompt Pablo to tell her the unfinished story with Andreea, a high-class Romanian prostitute. Pablo cannot control the level of intimacy of the tale despite his own amazement, hearing himself say things he thought were unspeakable. Nayra responds, between disputes and affection, interspersing her own confidences, some of them having a strong impact, like the adventure with an immigrant who arrived on the beaches of Fuerteventura during a summer excursion. Neither tells the most intimate details of their stories truthfully, but they are accessible to the reader. Despite frequent arguments due to the teenager's incisive and groundbreaking language, their complicity grows and they end up spending the day together, walking through different places in the city. The story with Andreea takes on dramatic tones that completely captivate the young woman. Two suicides, the chase by Romanian mafia, returning to her hometown, searching for Pablo, Andreea’s struggle to regain her dignity and her artistic capacity through painting, and the apparent disappearance of her father's life, capture Nayra’s attention. Despite the narrative tricks used by Pablo, when night falls and they reach home, Nayra connects the dots and is surprised to discover that her perfectionist and successful mother, a recognized painter from Santa Cruz, with whom she has had a very conflictive season, is Andreea Constantin, the Romanian immigrant her father met as a high-class prostitute. After an initial reaction of rejection due to the ignorance in which she was kept, she understands her mother's situation. All the questions she always had about many details of her life arise with the discovery. A few years after discovering her identity, Andreea disappears from home. A call from Romania alerts them to the discovery of two charred bodies near her birthplace and the presence of her old exploiter nearby, who cursed her for life through a Transylvania ritual when she abandoned prostitution. Knowing she was discovered in Tenerife, Andreea tried to keep her family away from danger and returned to her country, where she was easy prey for the mafia. Pablo and his daughter Nayra fly to Bucharest to identify Andreea’s body, which may have been brutally murdered and burned. When it seems the identification will be negative, a small detail of the clothing makes them doubt. Desolate, they receive medical and psychological support from the Romanian team, but it turns out to be a false lead. Andreea is rescued from a hideout and has survived due to a misunderstanding by her captors. Protected by the Romanian police, she later becomes a key witness whose testimony ends the dangerous band of her pimp. But that bravery comes at a price; 2 years later, she does not return from an art exhibition in Paris. The police believe that her exploiter’s curse was fulfilled by a nephew who visited him in prison shortly before his death and was seen in Paris during the days Andreea had the exhibition. After a year of anguish, Nayra can no longer bear the situation and decides to mourn her mother at the cove where she painted her last picture. It had as its background the rock arch symbolizing the risk of living and facing life’s challenges. Nayra considers her mother lost and throws Andreea’s ashes into the sea, symbolized by those of a magnolia branch she planted many years ago. With this, she internalizes the loss and the fighting values Andreea taught her. The exit from the volcanic cove is a song to the life that continues and to the young woman who represents it. The novel is dedicated to the memory of Andreea Constantin and the thousands of women sexually exploited around the world.

Sara decide a toda costa seguir las huellas de la canción emprendiendo un viaje hacia las raíces más hondas del pueblo cubano en búsqueda de un secreto sellado entre abuela y nieta, un secreto transmitido al filo de los años y que ahora ella tratará de esclarecer sorteando toda clase de obstáculos y vivir así la historia más apasionante de su vida.

However, the rise of Islam toward the end of the seventh century and the political and linguistic dominion it exerted over that region has a deep impact on the area and the Christian communities. When Arabic became the language of culture, Christian authors adopted it in their writings. As a result of the ups and downs in their relation with Islam, there will be apocalyptic and apocryphal works in ancient Palestine monasteries, books by Melkite, Nestorian and Monophysite authors, dogmatic treatises and poetic compositions. Moreover, both the Bible and patristic, liturgical and hagiographical works were soon translated into Arabic. This literary activity took place not only in major centers such as Damascus, Baghdad and Cairo, but also in farther areas like Al-Andalus.

La presente exposición y los textos que la acompañan proceden de un proyecto de investigación-creación desarrollado por Mariana Dicker, María Alejandra Fajardo, Elkin Rubiano y Javier Gil. Esta exploración pretende pensar las relaciones entre creación artística y memoria a partir de la producción artística de Beatriz González de los últimos 20 años. Consideramos que las imágenes toman posición frente a lo real; no representan lo dado o lo sucedido, sino que lo crean y dimensionan desde sus particulares modos de pensar. Tampoco aspiran a explicaciones totalizantes; significan a través de momentos, fragmentos, detalles y relaciones inéditas. Lo visual toca lo real sin aspirar a verdades absolutas y cerradas, pero desde sus singularidades expresivas renueva la percepción y la comprensión del mundo. En ese contexto, consideramos que el trabajo de Beatriz González construye memoria, asumiendo que esta no se refiere a dar cuenta de hechos objetivos ocurridos en el pasado, sino como una construcción simbólica, un trabajo, una nueva dimensión de sentido vinculada a la creación artística. Most of the forty-nine works in the book were specifically solicited from the writers I know in response to the question, “What makes you tingle as a lesbian?” Literally, the sensation of “slight prickles, stings, or tremors,” the excitement. I purposely didn’t give any more qualifiers to that prompts. I wanted the writers themselves to define the terms and enact them on the page. And while the word “tingle” is a homonym for the Tagalog word for “clitoris,” many of the pieces submitted were not about sex at all. But all the pieces are about a spark of recognition, whether at the beginning, the middle, or the end, that one loves a woman as a woman. Tingle is the flint. Here we are taking our stories of women loving women in our own hands and making ourselves visible on our own terms. When the initial thrill of desire is past, the tingle is ultimately the recognition that what we have found cannot remain in the dark—we must love and be loved in the light.
