        The Slope of Sisters

        China Story Picture Books

        by Lu Mei

China Story Picture Books is the first set of children's picture books launched by the Bingxin Award Committee. This set of books covers the works of seven Bingxin Award-winning writers of different ages including children's literature masters and promising young writers. The illustrations are full of traditional Chinese cultural elements such as dragon lantern dance, paper cutting, oil paper umbrella, and bamboo. Powerful painters at home and abroad are invited to do illustrations, which brings interesting fusion and collision of Chinese and foreign cultures to the books. In addition to the original illustrations, the stories are more touching. Every child can harvest the courage and wisdom for growing up from these stories.   The series consists of 7 picture books: The Dragon Lantern, The Path of Golden Flowers, The Child in Three-Story Attic, The School Day Gifts, The Secret of Crossing, The Slope of Sisters.   The Slope of Sisters tells a story of meeting childhood self. Xiaomei incarnated a waterblue dragonfly she met in her childhood. She flied over large fields with wheat waves and the childhood hillside full of broad bean flowers, and recalled the summer vacation she spent with her sister in her childhood when her sister firmly said: "You should learn to be strong and don't cry."

        Across Great Divides

        by Monique Roy

Across Great Divides is a timeless story of the upheavals of war, the power of family, and the resiliency of human spirit. When Hitler came to power in 1933, one Jewish family refused to be destroyed and defied the Nazis only to come up against another struggle—confronting apartheid in South Africa.   The novel chronicles the story of Eva and Inge, two identical twin sisters growing up in Nazi Germany. As Jews, life becomes increasingly difficult for them and their family under the Nazi regime. After witnessing the horrors of Kristallnacht, they realize they must leave their beloved homeland if they hope to survive.   They travel to Antwerp, Belgium, and then on to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, chasing the diamond trade in hopes of finding work for their father, a diamond merchant. Finally, they find a home in beautiful South Africa and begin to settle down.   But just as things begin to feel safe, their new home becomes caught up in it’s own battles of bigotry and hate under the National Party’s demand for an apartheid South Africa. Eva and Inge wonder if they will ever be allowed to live in peace, though they cling to the hope for a better day when there will be “an understanding of the past, compassion for all humanity, and …hope and courage to move forward across great divides.”   Worldwide rights are available for this novel. I would like to sell Across Great Divides in Europe, Africa and Asia.   The readership for Across Great Divides are history buffs, both female and male, and all ages, from late teens through adult.

        Animal Magicians

        by S&S Alliance

Animals are amazing magicians! There are 3 titles in this series: each titles uses a different mechanism to show 6 kinds of "magic transformations", which can greatly inspire kids' curiosity and interest, and lead them to explore more about Nature. For the first title, the contrast between animal babies and adult animals is vividly demonstrated by amazing bouncing popup elements, and it's like this that a larva becomes a mature dragonfly. With revolving mechanisms, the second title shows how animals use mimicry to protect themselves from predators and how butterflies disguise themselves as owls, for example. The third title shows with sliding and pulling cards, how animals avoid predators by blending themselves in with the surrounding environment. For example, how a leaf-tail gecko can hide among dead leaves and survive! A series not to be missed. 3 titles available -Miracles of Growing Up -Super Mimicry Show -Who Is Hiding There?
