        Transcendent Dreaming

        Stepping into Our Human Potential

        by Christina Donnell, PhD

Transcendent Dreaming: Stepping into Our Human Potential (Winds of Change Books, October 2008) by Christina Donnell, PhD, recounts a series of dreams that, much to the author's surprise, revealed within her a capacity for prophecy, clairvoyance, stepping out of time, materialization, and ultimately, a state of oneness with all creation. These faculties of expanded consciousness, she proposes, lie dormant in humankind, ready to be awakened. This multiple award-winning book chronicles Donnell's radical spiritual awakening through "transcendent dreaming," a form of dreaming that expands consciousness, allowing dreamers to identify with the intelligence that animates the universe. Through example, the book invites readers to access their infinite nature by delving into their own dream experiences. In the process, it eases theirtransition from identifying with the individual self to identifying with the underlying intelligence pervading the universe. This blueprint for a transcendent humanity guides us toward a future of inner peace, joy, and wonderment independent of external circumstances. Donnell offers ten of her own dreams, not so much as revelatory epiphanies, rather as sources of inspiration so that readers will want to delve deeply into their own dream experiences. Her dreams are organized in a way that lets readers witness the dream experiences as they unfolded, and learning more about their significance for expanding consciousness and accessing transcendent reality.

        Cultural and Ethnic Diversity

How European Psychologists Can Meet the Challenges

        by Alexander Thomas

Culture and diversity are both challenge and opportunity. This volume looks at what psychologists are and can be doing to help society meet the challenges and grasp the opportunities in education, at work, and in clinical practice. The increasingly international and globalized nature of modern societies means that psychologists in particular face new challenges and have new opportunities in all areas of practice and research. The contributions from leading European experts cover relevant intercultural issues and topics in areas as diverse as personality, education and training, work and organizational psychology, clinical and counselling psychology, migration and international youth exchanges. As well as looking at the new challenges and opportunities that psychologists face in dealing with people from increasingly varied cultural backgrounds, perhaps more importantly they also explain and discuss how psychologists can deepen and acquire the intercultural competencies that are now needed in our professional lives.   Target Group: psychotherapists / clinical psychologists / mental health professionals

Mason's World Dictionary of Livestock Breeds, Types and Varieties

        by Valerie Porter

This is a new edition of a standard reference text, and contains key breed information about cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, asses and buffalo. It contains approximately 9000 entries and cross-references on breeds, sub-breeds, types, varieties, strains and lines of these species. The aim is to include all the livestock names that may be encountered in international literature. Each entry includes the current recommended English name, region or country of origin, notes on usage, followed by a brief physical description of the breed, in terms of colour/markings, horns, and coat type. There is a description of the relationship with other breeds or types, and historical notes about the origin of the breed, plus details of breed societies, and herdbooks where relevant. Finally, foreign names and synonyms are listed, to aid identification. The book has been thoroughly updated since the 4th edition was published in 1996. Revisions have been undertaken by Valerie Porter, a well-respected author of more popular works on animal breeds.

by Edited by Dr Thomas S. Walker, Jeffrey Alwang

Following on from the CGIAR study by Evenson and Gollin (published by CABI in 2003), this volume provides up-to-date estimates of adoption outcomes and productivity impacts of crop variety improvement research in sub-Saharan Africa. The book reports on the results of the DIIVA Project that focussed on the varietal generation, adoption and impact for 20 food crops in 30 countries. Crop Variety Improvement and its Effect on Productivity

The Impact of International Agricultural Research

by Edited by Robert E Evenson, Douglas Gollin

This volume reports on the productivity impacts of varietal improvement research conducted at a number of international centres affiliated with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research. Such centres have been at the forefront of a 40-year effort to breed new varieties of the world’s staple food crops. The volume is the main product of a study initiated and supported by the Impact Assessment and Evaluation Group (now Standing Panel on Impact Assessment) of the CGIAR. Descriptive data and econometric models are used to evaluate the impact of research on eleven crops and in three country case studies (Brazil, China and India).

        Diversity Competence

        Cultures Don’t Meet, People Do

        by Edwin Hoffman, Arjan Verdooren

In today's world many people live, learn and work in international and multicultural environments. Intercultural communication has become an important topic in many fields of work and study. Given the complexities of globalization, knowledge of cultures and cultural differences is rarely sufficient. In this book, interpersonal communication forms the point of departure: the meeting of people, not of cultures. The authors describe what diversity competence entails: which processes, challenges and skills are relevant in a 'superdiverse' world. They demonstrate how the TOPOI model offers an inclusive, communicative approach to analyzing and addressing potential miscommunication. - Addresses controversial topics frankly and clearly without being simplistic. - Discusses theory from several different fields. - Case studies provide practical examples and guidelines. - Companion website with extra case studies and study assignments. The target audience for Diversity Competence includes students, educators and professionals in the fields of communication and media, business, management and leadership, governance and international relations and cooperation.
