Minibombo makes picture books characterized by clear images and solid colours, telling stories with a short text or no text at all. The books aim to create a participated reading process between adults and children and require a bit of creativity and cooperation on their part. Minibombo loves to explore different types of communication. This is why some of its paper stories have become the starting point for creating digital applications. The apps refer to the original stories in the books and develop them further by exploiting a different code. All the minibombo apps are available worldwide on the App Store and Google Play. Minibombo started in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 2013. Since its beginnings, it has been highly appreciated both by readers and operators in the sector and has been awarded several prizes which have helped make its books known among a wide public. Its books are translated in more than fourteen counties worldwide.

Minang Legacy to the World

Reno Andam Suri began her rendang-production business, Rendang Uni Farah, in 2004. She dreamed of promoting rendang to a wider audience by introducing vacuum-packed rendang suitable for air travel. She did not stop there, however. In 2012 she started a blog, Rendang Traveler, to share stories about rendang, the proud dish from her homeland, West Sumatra. To write this book, she returned to West Sumatra, and discovered the rich philosophical and cultural values of rendang, affirming her view that it is indeed a national treasure worth sharing with the world. Reno has become the media go-to source for rendang. At her Baralek Rendang (rendang festival) she introduced rendang to an appreciative public through cooking demonstrations, engaging stories, and interesting games. Reno has appeared in many discussions about West Sumatran cuisine and has conducted various cooking workshops and training sessions. She is also involved in many educational communities such as Indonesia Mengajar and Kelas Inspirasi. Today, she organizes educational trips or travel programs to West Sumatra, which highlights the region’s rich culture and culinary delights. She invites participants to become better acquainted with the daily lives of West Sumatrans. She dreams of promoting rendang to an even wider audience, not just as a delectable dish, but also for the wealth of amazing stories behind it, as part of an enduring culture. Thoroughly researched but written casually, RENDANG Minang Legacy to the World boasts also the beautiful presentation of the dishes as well as the landscape of West Sumatra. It ultimately lays the groundwork about the origins of rendang and its philosophical approach, but it also explains that ultimately there are so many other varieties other than the one we usually have in Padang restaurants. The book content gained good recognition from Gourmand Prize Award in 2012 in Beijing.

Animal husbandry is strongly influenced by weather and climate. Climate change/variability imposes multiple stresses in animals and thus vital to understand the impact of environmental stress on livestock production and reproduction. Among the environmental variables affecting livestock, heat stress seems to be one of the more intriguing factors making difficult animal reproduction and production. Information and knowledge on animal responses to the environment continues to be in process, managing livestock to reduce the impact of adverse weather and climate remains a challenge. Responding to the challenges of global warming necessitate a paradigm shift in the practice of agriculture and in the role of livestock within the farming system. The key thematic issues on environment stress and livestock production includes: early warning system, multiple stress research, exploitation of genetic potential of native breeds, suitable breeding programme and nutritional intervention research. Livestock farmers should have key roles in determining what adaptation and mitigation strategies they support if these have to sustain livestock production in changing climate. The integration of new technologies into the research and technology transfer systems potentially offers many opportunities to further the development of climate change adaptation strategies. This publication is therefore a multi-authored attempt to present the scientific fraternity high quality resource material in the field of climate change and livestock production. Attempts were made to discuss the adaptive mechanism that the animal exhibits to counteract the adverse effects of heat stress. In addition to the adaptive mechanisms, several management and feeding practices have also been established as tested methods for reduction of stress effects in livestock. It also highlights the challenges the livestock industry faces in maintaining the delicate balance between animal welfare and production. This book is a comprehensive resource for the researchers, teachers and students to understand stress, stress management and livestock productivity so as to sustain animal production in the Country under projected climate change scenario.
