        The Snowflake Collector

        by Robert Schneider, Linda Wolfsgruber

Wilson Bentley lives on a farm in the vastness of America with his older brother and his parents. The two boys are supposed to support their parents in their work and become good farmers. This leads to conflicts, because Wilson is a dreamy boy who spends a lot of time thinking and is fascinated by the little things in the world: the peculiarities of leaves, stones and snow crystals, which particularly fascinate him. It becomes the passion of his life to depict and preserve the delicate and fading crystals. Nobody in the area has any interest in Wilson’s eccentric ideas, people cannot follow his enthusiasm. When he gives a lecture in the village about his work and shows the photos of the crystals, he is met with a lack of understanding. But for Wilson's father, something fundamental changes that evening: He realizes the value he has ignored so far.

Leni, Pig and the other One

        by Helga Bansch

Everybody focuses on the other one since he was born. The parents constantly have to take care of him and therefore they have very little time for Leni. She would like to exchange the new brother because he is too small to play with and one can’t do much else with him either. It is a good thing that Leni has Pig, who holds her ears shut when the little one cries and her nose when he stinks. Pig listens to Leni's stories and travels with her to foreign countries. When Leni makes a bold parachute jump from the tree and sprains her ankle, she must not get up for a while. So Pig plays “pulling faces” with her. The other one lies in his cot beside them and actually pretends to participate. Maybe his time will come?

        Timid Rabbit

        by Heinz Janisch, Helga Bansch

Geese, donkeys, rabbits ... many animals have to serve to attribute negative characteristics to people. The rabbits have decided that this has to change. In the international rabbits’ headquarter a plenary assembly takes place. The rabbits no longer want to accept that children are called timid rabbits. This is due to a completely wrong assessment of the extraordinary abilities of rabbits: rabbits are clever, sensitive and brave. And they are quick, but not out of fear, but because they are courageous. After this has finally been stated openly, the next step comes almost automatically: Children with characteristics similar to those of rabbits are to be awarded the honorary title "Brave Rabbit" from now on.

        DISCO!

        by Frauke Angel, Julia Dürr

The little boy has a new friend, Pina. She says there are no colors only for boys or only for girls. And anyone can wear whatever they want. Then once Pina stays overnight and the children dress up because they want to play disco. The next morning, the father brings two beautiful disco dancers to the kindergarten. But a boy in a girl’s dress leads to discussions. After all, the father has an argument with his friend and in the end even the children are angry at each other. Next morning, the father drags a whole sack of clothes to kindergarten - enough for everyone to dress up. Because the kids really want to have a ball, with glitter and bells and whistles. And which colors and which dresses the girls wear and which the boys, is really completely irrelevant.
