Author Biography
Mithu M. Sanyal is an award-winning broadcaster, academic and author. Her first book,
“Vulva – a cultural history of the female genitalia” (Berlin, 2009) has been translated into
five languages: Danish (Tiderne Skifter), Spanish (Anagrama), Italian (Marco Tropea),
Swedish (Epix Bokförlag), and Hungarian (Bookart). Her debut novel Identitti (Munich
2021) became a longtime Spiegel Bestseller and was shortlisted for Deutscher Buchpreis.
Mithu Sanyal was awarded the Ernst Bloch Prize 2021 for her literary and essayist work.
