The early 21st century. The humanity is on the verge of the apocalypse, or so they tell on every TV channel. But the mass psychosis sometimes covers up more important problems, so people don’t see the true collapse is looming over their private lives. The life of Polya and Artem, the protagonists of Oksana Lushchevska’s ‘The Other Home’, has divided into two parts – before and after their parents divorced. Now the kids have to build new relationships with their Mom and Dad separately. Can they do it? Can they make themselves at home at the other home? Can they accept new circumstances and overcome the challenges? And what’s more, will the teenage love be an obstacle or a driver of change?

Author Biography
Oksana Lushchevska is an author of 42 book for children and teenagers, translator, publicist, critic and scholar of children’s and teen literature. She was born in 1982 in Talne, Cherkasy region, and graduated from Uman State Pedagogical University, after which she did a Master’s degree program at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2016 she obtained a PhD in Education at the University of Georgia. She majors in the global children’s literature and reading reception. Oksana Lushchevska has authored such books as ‘Z Vody u Vodu’ (From Water to Water), ‘Inshyy Dim’ (The Other Home), ‘Zadzerkallya’ (The Mirror World), ‘Viter z-pid Sontsya’ (The Wind from under the Sun), etc. Her children’s books have been included in shortlists of BBC Ukraine Book of the Year and LitAkcent of the Year and highly valued by the BaraBooka experts. In 2017, her novella ‘The Wind from under the Sun’ was included in White Ravens, a prestigious catalogue of the best 200 releases of the year. Oksana Lushchevska is the winner of such literary contests as Zoloty Leleka (2018), Smoloskyp (2009), Napyshit pro mene Knyzhku (2016 & 2018). She currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and actively writes her blogs on Instagram and Facebook.
