Description

A historical novel with the plot unravelling in mediaeval Kyiv. Although the city is mostly wooden and the St. Sophia Cathedral is still being built, Yaroslav the Wise is already giving away his daughter Elizabeth to the King of Norway, Harald III the Severe. The main character, a young girl named Dina, receives as a gift from her father a mysterious creature from distant lands, which turns out to be a mouse-hunting cat. Dina and her companions are in for many dangerous and fascinating adventures. She even has a hand in a genuine investigation involving forged Byzantine gold coins. After all, her uncle is a jeweller. 

 

Each reader will be captivated by this historical dive, filled with action, just in time to realise that history is still all around us.

Author Biography

Author. Oleksiy Gedeonov is a writer, who currently lives and works in Kyiv. He is a sociologist with a keen interest in history and art. Oleksiy is the author of the novels ‘To a Random Guest’ and ‘The Days of Apples’, which depict the cities of Lviv and Kyiv to be as bizarre and strange as they were in the late 1980s. The author also became a laureate of the Isaac Babel Literary Award for World Club of Odesa and received the Grand Prix at the ‘Activation of the Word’ competition.


Illustrator. Maxim Rosenfeld is a Candidate Architect, an associate professor at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts, an artist, a storyteller and a video blogger.
