Love Before First Sight

by Huai Guan

Description

It was not until the moment of goodbye that she suddenly realized, this man who she had never met, whose voice she only associated through a vague impression, was the true companion who was with her every day, climbing into the cave and faring through the floods…

In the summer of her 20th birthday, Audrey Yu, an anthropology student went to a stalactite cave deep in Guizhou’s mountains for a 40-day field trip. The Miao people had settled there for generations. They built roofless houses in the caves and placed their ancestors’ coffins on the cliffs. Audrey's mission was to record this disappearing social form using her camera.

However, she soon realized that the dangerous terrain and faint light had made her skills all useless. With the passage of time and strong passion for completing the project, Audrey turned to the Internet for help and finally found Ivan Wen, who had professional experiences in cave photography. But Ivan was based in Chicago, struggling to start his business in jewelry design....

Reading LOVE BEFORE FIRST SIGHT, I couldn’t bear putting it down. Too many emotional twists and turns concentrate in the lines, with no vanity of pretension, only a sincere story of love. ─ Wen Hsiao-Pin

In addition to love, the hero and heroine have a strong longing and vision for their future, which in itself constitutes a barrier for them to be together. Through the reading of their pursuits, I see my own struggles. ─ Birdy Fong, award-winning screenwriter
