Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) was an English surrealist artist and writer who emigrated to Mexico via New York City after the Second World War. As the first comprehensive examination of Carrington's writing and art in an international context, this volume highlights Carrington's role as a major figure in the history of modern art, literature, and thought. Leonora Carrington and the international avant-garde offers an interdisciplinary exploration of the intellectual, literary and artistic currents that animate her relationships with experimental art movements throughout the Western Hemisphere.
