This book presents a painful picture of how we prefer to bury our heads deep in the ground and ignore the underlying problems, although this only causes the phenomenon to spread. Again and again this book explains, in a way that is difficult to digest, the ways in which many people, especially children, are affected by mental and emotional difficulties. It endeavors to answer the penetrating question that haunts the sufferers: "How did I get into this situation?" In my opinion, it is a book that is obligatory for everyone.

The approach of Orit Yogev is that behind every adolescent with extreme obesity there is some type of mental or physical injury. A fascinating book! I swallowed its pages like water during a heat wave.

I am defined as someone who has to watch my weight. I'm not "there" yet, but I have to be careful, and so I was able to identify with the stories that appear in this book. Orit's writing, even though she comes from a professional and research perspective, is fun to read. A book for thin and fat people, a book that opens the eyes and the refrigerator. A book of body and soul and what is between them.

A real document and a must-read book for anyone suffering from one or another addiction: bulimia, anorexia, compulsive eating. I felt a very strong identification with the heroine, who had a very difficult burden to bear because of her eating disorder ... I really think it is necessary to read and understand that there is a solution called the 12-Step Plan of Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Overeaters Anonymous. Fat is not only in the body.

I read the book without being able to put it down, and what struck me the most was that I was able to identify with every child portrayed here. Orit managed to touch the root of emotion that activates the obesity mechanism, which for all of us is the same: love. Although this is a book about obese children, it will also be relevant to many other children, and I recommend it to everyone.

Yogev's declared goal in writing the book was to give a voice to those who suffer from obesity, but also (or mainly) from ridicule, social insensitivity, and ignoring of the emotional distress hidden behind their eating problem. Anyone who knows the problem up close will eagerly swallow every word (this writer wiped a tear here and there), others will find interesting, among other things, a behind-the-scenes look at clinical treatment. This book shatters the myth that "you need only will power."

Author Biography
Orit Yogev
Yogev has an MA in clinical medical psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MA in clinical social work from the University of Haifa. During her studies, she was awarded the Kellner Prize for exceptional therapeutic achievement in multi-problem families; she graduated from university with distinction.
Yogev is currently a consultant to medical organizations in all matters related to bariatric surgery and obesity, and also manages an internet community with thousands of members, designed for people suffering from depression and anxiety.
Her book has been extremely successful in Israel and is included in many Israeli academic institutions as compulsory reading in the study of eating disorders.
