Exilio de la palabra (Exile of the word)
by Nuria Manzur
Description
Our conception of the world depends on how we name it, hence our relationship with it is inevitably idiomatic, and any crisis we experience implies a turbulence with our words, from which it is impossible to divest ourselves. In any case, language is a pact, a truce with ourselves. And that is precisely one of the constants that mark this book, in which -as its title suggests- the word flees from itself, knowing that it will not be able to get anywhere else but to itself, to language, to oneself, to re-erect itself. This work is, then, a reconstruction. "Each letter a path", Manzur asserts to remind us that language is ungraspable but, perhaps for that reason, irremediably and ultimately, always one's own.
