Author Biography

Camila Villalobos Contreras (Valdivia, Chile, 1986). She studied Librarianship and Documentation at the University of Playa Ancha in Valparaiso. After a couple of previous visits to Don Ignacio Duri's house, in the year 2014 she begins a year and a half stay with him, during which time she assumes the management of the shaman's book project, maintaining the continuity of the audio records initiated by Robin Van Loon, and later carrying out the process of transcription and construction of the text. Motivated by her experience with the book of Don Ignacio, she is currently ready to start her master's degree in Cultural and Heritage Anthropology at the University of Seville, Spain. Robin Van Loon (Boston, USA, 1982). Founder and director of the organization Camino Verde, he has lived in the province of Tambopata in the Peruvian Amazon since 2004. A student of traditional and indigenous agriculture and medicinal plants, his work has focused on the development of reforestation strategies based on a community approach for the regeneration of important and endangered plants in the Amazon. He is a writer, regenerative designer, and consultant in agroforestry, reforestation, and sustainable development. He met don Ignacio in 2003 and has since been his mentor in learning about medicinal plants. "
