Carthage's Philosophers
by Fathi Triki
Description
Philosophy in Tunisia ,represents an important issue that needs to be discussed and it deserves an in depth study that will allow us to uncover its components , mode of action and its various effects on different levels. In this book, we present to the reader, the results of our research concerning philosophy during Carthage’s era, -the era was characterized by the depth of its topics, since it kept dealing with the process of philosophizing that began in Athens-, and was also concerned with the issues that touched the second Sophist movement . Even though some historians of philosophy considered that period as the period of the decline and retreat of philosophy. Some issues were Social and legal which led to directing the thought towards adopting rhetoric in a first period and towards adopting doctrinal issues concerned with morality and religious affairs in a second period and that’s when Christianity began to spread in Carthage.
