Career development in the tourism and hospitality industry has attracted greater attention, leading to a higher recognition of the relevance of formal and industry-specific education and training. Author Biography

Jorge Marques is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture of the Portucalense University in Porto, Portugal. He is also a researcher at Research in Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT) (University Portucalense) and the Centre of Studies on Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT) (University of Coimbra). He holds a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and a PhD in Tourism, Leisure and Culture, specialising in Tourism and Development. His current research interests cover tourism development policies, destination management and planning, business tourism, hospitality management, digital transformation, and education and training in tourism and hospitality; Joana A. Quintela is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture at Portucalense University and a researcher at Research in Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT).
